Mimikyu appears during the ‘A Shockingly Good Time’ event, but finding one won’t be easy, as it’s one of the rarest mon available. How to Catch Mimikyu in Pokemon GO

Players can get Mimikyu during the ‘A Shockingly Good Time’ event in Pokemon GO. During the event, you’ll be able to catch Mimikyu from wild encounters and by completing multiple activities.

Below, we have listed all the different ways to get Mimikyu in Pokemon GO:

• Wild encounters: On April 1, 2026, players can encounter Mimikyu as a very rare spawn in the wild from 12 AM to 11:59 PM local time. The spawn rate for Mimikyu will be boosted alongside Pikachu from 6 PM to 7 PM local time. When you’re out hunting for it, make sure to stock up on Razz Berries and Ultra Ball to increase the catch rate.
• Event-themed GO Pass: A new GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe will be available during the ‘A Shockingly Good Time’ event. Players who’ve reached level 60 and 70 can catch Mimikyu as a reward. Upon buying a Deluxe Pass, one can also get a Mimikyu hoodie and an extra encounter.
• Field Research Tasks: Spinning Poke Stops during the event will give you special Field Research. Only Catch 3 Pikachu and Catch 5 different species of Electric‑type Pokemon Field Research will give you Mimikyu encounters.

These are the only methods that we know of. At the time of writing, there aren’t any Pokemon GO raids happening, so we cannot say if Mimikyu will be featured as a raid boss.

Is There a Shiny Mimikyu Available?

Mimikyu does not have a shiny version available in Pokemon GO as of yet.

As a Ghost and Fairy-type Pokemon, Mimikyu was added as a part of the April Fools’ secret celebration on April 1. This is because the current event is fully based on Electric-type mons, and Mimikyu looks very similar to Pikachu.

Mimikyu has a decent moveset in Pokemon GO that provides a wide range of coverage. Here’s a list of all the movesets that it offers:

• Mimikyu Fast Attack:

Once every Trainer Battle, Mimikyu starts with its Disguised form. However, when it takes a hit from a charged attack, the damage won’t be registered. Instead, the shroud that covers Mimikyu will tilt, and its defense will be lowered until the battle ends or the mon faints.

This can be very effective for soaking attacks and saving up on Protection Shields. But, you must be cautious as it’s not that tanky, and the fast moves add up with lowered defense.
