Samsung’s One UI has proven to be the most versatile and appealing Android skin over the years. However, one issue with the UI has been its horizontal view app drawer which looks outdated, but the company has stuck with it as far as I can remember. With One UI 7 (review), we finally have an option to switch to a vertical scrolling app drawer and in this guide, we will show how to do it.
Switch to Vertical App Drawer in One UI 7
Fans have been requesting Samsung for years to allow them to switch to a vertical app list, so it is a relief that the option has finally become available with the latest update. Here’s how you can change to the vertical app drawer in One UI 7.
- Swipe up from the home screen to bring up the app drawer.
- Tap on the 3-dots icon at the bottom right.
- Select Sort and then pick Alphabetical order.
This will switch the layout of the app drawer to a vertical scrolling list.
Go Back to Horizontal Drawer in One UI 7
In case you are a Samsung purist and prefer the horizontal view for your app drawer, then follow the steps below to go back to the older layout.
- To open the app drawer, swipe up from the home screen.
- Now tap on the 3-dots icon at the bottom right.
- Go to Sort and tap on Custom order.
Once done, the app drawer will go back to the horizontal page view style.
It is always nice when companies listen to their users and community and add features and functions accordingly. We wished Samsung to include this new layout for the app drawer, as it makes it easy to browse through apps, so our excitement was through the roof when we saw the option for it in this update.
