I Have a Theory for How Jujutsu Kaisen Might Bring Back Gojo

Spoiler Warning: This post includes heavy spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

Only three chapters to go. The Jujutsu Kaisen manga is ending in three chapters. It is still hard to digest, and it feels like it was only recently we saw Gojo confidently say, “Nah, I’d win.” Well, we know how that went. But now that Sukuna, the King of Curses, vanished after turning into a gloopy blob, every fan is wondering how the manga will end. Well, sadly, the JJK manga is on a break this week, so we have to wait to learn what creator Gege Akutami has in store.

In the meantime, I wish to share something that’s been on my mind all week long. Ever since the previous Jujutsu Kaisen chapter (Chapter 268) was released last weekend and I saw the final panel, I’ve been thinking — who would call Yuta a jerk? It’s probably Gojo, right? But isn’t over beloved sensei dead? Also, wasn’t his body taken over by Yuta? So, how could it be Gojo’s voice?

It’s probably Shoko or someone else, don’t you think? I have been faced with the same dilemma all week, but I strongly believe it’s Gojo Satoru. I have a theory for how Gege Akutami can revive Gojo and bring him and make fans happy. And….it’s as a furry (LMAO). Just kidding, sort of.

Don’t click away, let me be a bit more clear. I think it’s possible that Gojo will make his sensational comeback as a cursed corpse like Panda. Let me explain.

Principal Yaga and his Cursed Technique

Before you leap and shout – But Principal Masamichi Yaga was executed in the manga, how could he play a role in the ending? Yes, he was. But his technique did not die with him.

Ardent JJK manga fans would remember that Masamichi’s parting words to Principal Gakuganji (in Chapter 147) were the formula for making fully independent cursed corpses. Thus, he passed down his technique to Gakuganji in hopes that it might come in handy in the future. And I believe it does in bringing back the greatest sorcerer of this generation, even if he’s dead and his body has been taken over by his student.

Knowing a technique exists that can bring back Gojo is not enough; there’s more to it than meets the eye here. Masamichi’s technique, if you don’t remember, requires three highly compatible souls to fuel the three cores that power the cursed corpse. Remember Panda had three modes, three cores he could switch between?

The three cores are essential as these souls need to observe each other constantly in the initial stage. This will help them stabilize, leading the cursed corpse to have self-sustaining cursed energy. If this process is a success, a cursed corpse will be born and attain autonomy.

I know, it’s confusing and you might have questions, like can Gojo’s soul be extracted from his body? What about the two other souls? Well, I have answers for both below.

Gojo and Geto Can Finally Reunite As Well

The heading already tells you the direction I will be taking with this section. So, let me answer your questions then.

First, yes, soul information can be replicated from physical information, as revealed by Masamichi to Gakuganji before his death. Can it be replicated from a dead body? Yes, we can. The evidence for this can be traced back to Chapter 147, which tells Masamichi’s backstory and introduces us to the cursed corpse, Takeru, who was Kusakabe’s late nephew.

With that in mind, we have Gojo’s body, even if it’s inhabited by Yuta right now, so Gakuganji can probably replicate his soul information. So we have our first soul for the cursed corpse.

Next, I believe a highly compatible soul for Gojo will be, of course, his best friend Suguru Geto. It might seem impossible to replicate his soul information because Geto’s body was first taken over by Kenjaku and then consumed by Rika. However, it is never revealed in the manga what part of his body or how much of his body Rika consumes to copy his technique which allows Yuta to use Gojo’s body and limitless.

Since Yuta was only able to maintain Kenjaku’s technique for less than 5 minutes, as confirmed in Chapter 263 in the manga, I think Rika didn’t consume Geto’s complete body and possibly only his brain, aka Kenjaku, to copy his technique. So, I believe the sorcerers might have the remainder of Geto’s body, which can be used to extract the required soul information for the corpse. And that’s our second soul, check.

Yuta is Dying in Gojo’s Body, But He Can Survive

For the final soul that would make this a reality, it’s a toss between many different characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. It could be Tsukumo, Choso, or someone else entirely. However, my best guess would be Yuta. In the previous chapter, we see all of our beloved Jujutsu High students rushing through a corridor to save Yuta.

And well, he might actually be in trouble and on the verge of death. I say this because, well, in JJK Chapter 261, we saw Mei Mei explain the risks involved in Yuta jumping bodies and using Kenjaku’s technique using his copy technique. They are as under:

  1. If Kenjaku’s cursed technique functions continuously or at regular intervals, you [Yuta] will be unable to sustain your body or soul, and you will die.
  2. If the cursed technique functions irregularly, you won’t die immediately, but you [Yuta] will die eventually.
  3. If the cursed technique activates only once, then you will be able to use Limitless even after five minutes.
  4. Another possibility is that after changing bodies, you will lose your cursed technique and be forced to live in Gojo’s body.

Now, if you’ve read past chapter 261 and seen Yuta (using Gojo’s body) fight Sukuna then you know that points 1 and 3 are eliminated. That leaves us with two situations. Either Yuta is forever trapped in Gojo’s body and loses his cursed technique or he is dying because of Kenjaku’s technique working irregularly. I think the latter turned out to be true, which is why all the other sorcerers are rushing to the scene to save him.

And I think Yuta could serve as the third and final core we need to satisfy the condition to make a cursed corpse. Once Gakuganji implants Gojo, Geto, and Yuta’s soul information into the three cores of a cursed corpse, we can see Gege Akutami bring three fan-favorite characters back to life in the ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

Well, I believe this is an interesting way to bring back Gojo, along with his best friend and student from the depth of death and despair. Do you think this is a possible way to revive Gojo in JJK? Or, do you think Yuta will be able to return to his body with help from Rika and Gojo will come back in some other way? Or will Gojo never make a comeback in the end? We will find out soon. Do share your crazy theories in the comments below.
