Post the release of its Honor 10 flagship smartphone in India earlier in May, the Chinese giant has today unveiled two new budget smartphones – the Honor 7A and Honor 7C – in the country.
Price And Availability
As for the pricing, the Honor 7A has been priced at Rs 8,999 whereas its powerful alternative, Honor 7C will retail at Rs 9,999 for the lower-end variant, while the 4GB version will be sold for Rs 11,999.
The Honor 7A is exclusive to Flipkart, and will be available from May 29. Amazon has bagged the exclusive rights to sell the Honor 7C and sales will begin on May 31.
Both phones were released in China earlier this year, so we were already aware of its complete specs sheet even before today’s launch. Honor 7A and 7C both depart from the tradition of being backed by Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin SoC, and are instead powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets.
The Honor 7A features a 5.7-inch HD+ (720 x 1440p) IPS LCD display, backed by the Snapdragon 430 processor. This is coupled with up to 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, that’s expandable up to 256GB using a dedicated microSD card slot. Honor has not launched the lower-end variant which features only a single camera and lesser RAM.
As for the optics, Honor 7A brings a dual 13MP+2MP setup on the rear. The device also has a front flash that’ll allow you to capture stunning shots even at night.
The Honor 7A runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box with Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.0 skin on top. It also boasts of turbo-charged speakers, a 3000mAh battery, and dual Bluetooth support – allows the phone to connect with two devices simultaneously.
As for the Honor 7C, the device features a 5.99-inch HD+ display and is powered by the Snapdragon 450 processor. It is coupled with two RAM and storage configurations, which includes 3GB+32GB or 4GB+64GB storage. Just like the 7A, the storage here can also be expanded up to 256GB.
As for the optics, the Honor 7C brings a dual 13MP+2MP sensor combo on the rear and an 8MP front-facing lens with a selfie flash. You also get the infamous ‘Face Unlock’ feature in tow with the same.
The Honor 7C also runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box with Huawei’s custom EMUI 8.0 skin on top. It also boasts of real-time audio monitoring through earbuds, a 3000mAh battery, dual Bluetooth support – enables the phone to connect with 2 devices simultaneously and more.
Honor has tied up with Reliance Jio to offer cashbacks and additional data to Jio subscribers who buy the new phones.
With the Honor 7A and Honor 7C, the Huawei-owned company is taking yet another step into the ultra-competitive budget market of India. The company had previously launched the Honor 7X towards the end of last year but the Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 series seem to have trumped most phones in this segment.
But, with the launch of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Oppo’s Realme 1, the sub-Rs 10,000 segment is seeing fresh churn – one that is squarely aimed at Xiaomi’s dominance. Honor could very well carry forward the sales momentum from last year and last quarter with these new phones.
