What Is the High Republic Era in Star Wars and Its Relevance to The Acolyte

The lore of Star Wars is practically never-ending with the universe expanding more and more with each show and movie that comes out of the franchise. However, every epic has a beginning and the one mentioned the most in the Star Wars movies is the High Republic Era. The upcoming Star Wars show, Star Wars: The Acolyte, is set in the High Republic Era which will make it the first live-action adaptation of this period. So, what is the High Republic era, and here’s everything you should know about it!

The High Republic Era is Set Between 500BBY and 100BBY

The High Republic Era, also known as the Golden Age of The Republic, is set approximately 200 years before the Star Wars prequel movies. This is the era where the Jedi are thriving and are in absolute power. They are the protectors of peace and are spread out throughout the galaxy training younglings and setting up Jedi Temples.

During this period, the Siths were thought to be extinct but the truth was far from it. The Siths had taken refuge in the shadows and were preparing themselves while strengthening their numbers with each passing day leading to the first Sith war that led to the fall of the old Republic.

Even in the trailer for The Acolyte, we get to see a snippet of a Sith Lord whose identity remains a mystery. This could be an indication of the Siths finally coming back to the surface.

Another interesting thing people are looking forward to in this series is the appearance of Master Yoda. As of now, there is no confirmation of his appearance but since he is a Jedi Grand Master during this period there is a high probability of him making an appearance.
