The Best Bunker Locations in GTA Online (Ranked)

GTA Online lets you and your crew run all sorts of criminal rackets, including Gunrunning. But to platform your arms dealing ambitions, you’ll have to first purchase a Bunker. These underground facilities turn into the base of operations for your weapons trafficking business. They can house everything from a shooting range to the owner’s personal vehicle, and of course, a weapons manufacturing facility. However, the game offers 11 different options to pick from, which can be confusing for some players. So, we’ve put together a list ranking the best bunker locations in GTA Online for you here.

Best Bunker Locations in GTA Online

Since all 11 bunkers function in the same way and their layout is entirely dependent on the player, location becomes extremely important. What you’re ideally looking for is proximity to Los Santos, since you’ll be visiting the city frequently to sell your guns and conduct resupply missions. Here’s our ranking of all 11 bunker locations in GTA Online:

11. Raton Canyon Bunker

  • Location: Situated between the Calafia Road Bridge and the Calafia Train Bridge near Raton Canyon
  • Price: $1,450,000

Coming in at dead last is the Raton Canyon Bunker, and the reason is pretty straightforward. Not only is it far away from the city, but the tall trees and rocky terrain make it increasingly challenging to drive around this area. You also cannot land your air vehicles here, which is a massive bummer. Price-wise, it’s definitely cheaper, but you’ll be better off spending your hard-earned money anywhere else.

10. Paleto Forest Bunker

  • Location: Near the Paleto Forest, right before Paleto Cove
  • Price: $1,165,000

In terms of location, the Paleto Forest Bunker is easily one of the worst GTA bunkers to set up shop. It sits on the northwestern edge of the map, far away from the city. While you’re unlikely to be bothered by griefers, a bunker here is more of a hassle than an asset to your business.

The only reason it avoids the last spot is the price tag, which makes it the cheapest bunker in the game. Furthermore, you can get this underground facility for free if you purchase the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack.

9. Grapeseed Bunker

  • Location: West of the McKenzie Field airstrip
  • Price: $1,750,000

Positioned right in the heart of Blaine County, the Grapeseed Bunker is a fine choice for players who are all about peace and quiet. There’s plenty of serenity here; you can even exit the bunker to spot Mount Chiliad towering over you. There’s also an airstrip nearby, which is always handy. But as we mentioned earlier, proximity to the city is paramount, and the Grapeseed Bunker is too far north to offer that. So if you’re in it for the money, avoid this one too.

8. Lago Zancudo Bunker

  • Location: West of Fort Zancudo
  • Price: $1,550,000

All things considered, the Lago Zancudo Bunker is a solid investment. While it sits a decent distance from the city, it’s right next to the freeway leading into Los Santos. On top of this, it also neighbours Fort Zancudo, the military base famous for housing fighter jets.

Unfortunately, this also means that the area nearby is frequented by griefers who are always a nuisance. So if you aren’t willing to compromise on this front, you’re better off with a different location.

7. Route 68 Bunker

  • Location: North of Route 68 within the Grand Senora Desert
  • Price: $1,950,000

The Route 68 Bunker is the farthest of a trio of bunkers situated near the Sandy Shores airfield. Its distance from the airfield is its biggest advantage, but also the reason it ranks below the other two neighbouring bunkers.

While the airfield is certainly accessible, purchasing the bunkers closer to it makes more sense, especially since they’re in the same price range. However, if you aren’t keen on splashing $2 million+ on an underground facility, the Route 68 Bunker is a decent option.

6. Grand Senora Oilfields Bunker

  • Location: Past a dead-end road near Joshua Road
  • Price: $2,035,000

The Grand Senora Oilfields Bunker is situated deep in the desert, meaning it’s nice and discreet. It’s also just a stone’s throw away from the Sandy Shores airfield, plus there’s plenty of space for potential escapes from nefarious players. But with a price in that region, you’d expect it to be right outside city limits, which it sadly isn’t.

5. Grand Senora Desert Bunker

  • Location: On the west side of the Sandy Shores airfield
  • Price: $2,120,000

If you’ve decided to break the bank on a bunker near the Sandy Shores airfield, this is the way to go. The Grand Senora Desert Bunker is the closest facility to the airstrip, so you’ll always be a hop and a skip away from the highly desired runway. With that said, it still shares the primary disadvantage of the Grand Senora Oilfields Bunker and sits just a little too far away from Los Santos. Be sure to spend some money to get it, though.

4. Smoke Tree Road Bunker

  • Location: In the Grand Senora Desert, next to Nowhere Road
  • Price: $2,205,200

Smoke Tree Road is among the most popular bunkers in GTA Online, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a bit further along from the Sandy Shores airfield, but still close enough that you’ll get there in a jiffy.

The scenery surrounding the location is mesmerizing. Green trees liven up the vastness of the desert, while the evening sun gorgeously highlights the silhouettes of the nearby hills. However, it loses out to our top three bunkers in the criteria that matter most: proximity to Los Santos.

3. Farmhouse Bunker

  • Location: South of Boilingbroke Penitentiary
  • Price: $2,375,000

Farmhouse Bunker is the most expensive location in the game, and it warrants that price for the most part. For starters, it falls almost dead center on the map, and is close to both the Senora Freeway and the Los Santos Freeway. This means that drives to the city will be a breeze, and most importantly, incredibly brief. It’s also pretty secluded and surrounded by foliage on all sides.

Unfortunately, it falls short because of an in-game bug that causes any vehicles you call to spawn on the freeway. This could result in long hikes up the road to collect the car, which is simply unacceptable given the exorbitant price tag.

2. Thompson Scrapyard Bunker

  • Location: North-east of Thompson Scrapyard within the Grand Senora Desert
  • Price: $2,290,000

The Thompson Scrapyard Bunker is nicely positioned in terms of distance to the city since it’s located right next to the Los Santos Freeway. The location itself is also pretty quaint, meaning you’re unlikely to be disturbed by other players. There’s also something about building a massive weapons manufacturing facility inside an abandoned scrapyard that just feels so right. By far, this is one of the best bunkers in GTA Online.

1. Chumash Bunker

  • Location: North west of Barberno Road on the western edge of the map
  • Price $1,650,000

Topping our list of the best GTA Online bunkers is the Chumash Bunker. Not only is the Chumash Bunker reasonably priced, but it is also the closest location to the city, as it sits just beyond the western corner of Los Santos. Drives back and forth from the bunker are the quickest compared to every other location. This spot also has a beautiful overlook of the sea in case you just want to sit with your thoughts for a bit.

That wraps up our rankings of the best bunkers in GTA Online. Be sure to let us know about your favorite location in the comments below.
