GTA 6 Could Cost $100 or More; Claims Analyst

In Short
  • Michael Pachter, the managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities, has claimed that GTA 6 could cost $100 or more.
  • He further claims that Take-Two will incentivize players by offering them large amounts of in-game money.
  • However, if priced at $100, GTA 6 would create a precedent for other developers to follow suit for their own titles.

At this point, we have all heard of the countless GTA 6 leaks and rumors. While everyone is excited about this monumental upgrade, many gamers are concerned that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be priced astronomically high. Well, there’s now more fuel to that fire, as an analyst has recently claimed that Take-Two could price GTA 6 at upwards of $100 or more.

The news comes via Video Games Chronicle in a research note with Michael Pachter, managing director of equity research at Wedbush Securities. The analyst discussed Take-Two in detail and the company’s plans for GTA 6.

Pachter believes the company plans to sell GTA 6 at a ‘previously unheard price point.’ As such, Grand Theft Auto 6 could be priced at $100 or higher per unit. However, Michael also maintains that Take-Two will incentivize players by offering them large amounts of in-game currency.

“We think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard of price point, and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to be spent in GTA Online”- Michael Pachter

The analyst further cited the successes of games like Warzone and COD: Mobile and mentioned how integrating such a high price point in a ‘premium game’ led to a 40% increase in sales.

It’s not exactly a surprise that GTA 6 could cost $100 or more, as Take-Two has been pricing its games higher and higher as time has gone by. A good instance is NBA 2K21, which was priced at $70, thereby setting an industry standard.

GTA 6 $100 Price Point Could Set a Precedent

Despite the fact that gamers are expecting GTA 6 to be priced at such a high point, this could signal a bad change in the industry. While we believe developers should be fairly compensated, GTA 6’s $100 pricing could set an example for other developers to follow suit. This could lead to AAA titles being priced exorbitantly without the necessary elements to back it up.

That said, what do you think about the analyst’s comments on GTA 6’s pricing? Let us know in the comments below!
