Genshin Impact Snezhnaya: Everything You Need to Know

Genshin Impact’s next big region would be Snezhnaya. Players have been waiting for Snezhnaya’s addition for over a year now, as Nod-Krai delayed it for us. Thankfully, our wishes are finally being heard as Hoyoverse confirms Snezhnaya’s release date alongside exclusive information about the new region. Here is everything you need to know about Genshin Impact Snezhnaya.

Genshin Impact Snezhnaya Release Date

Genshin Impact will add Snezhnaya on August 12, 2026. This date has been confirmed by Hoyoverse, and unless a major change happens in the versions in between, we can expect the Cryo nation to arrive on the given date. The first Snezhnaya update will likely be named as Genshin Impact 6.0, as the Nod-Krai versions took a detour by naming them Luna.

With the game heading back to the main storyline, Genshin Impact 6.0 should be the starting version of the update, and it will introduce us to Snezhnaya.

Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact: Location, Scenery, and Unique Powers

The new Snezhnaya dev stream held by Hoyoverse has revealed some details about the upcoming Cryo nation. Snezhnaya is the Cryo Nation and the stronghold of the Fatui. This place is ruled by the Tsaritsa, who is also the Cryo Archon. Snezhnaya is located right next to Nod-krai geographically, so you won’t need to cover a ton of distance to get there.

Also, as it is the Cryo Nation, the geography of the Snezhnaya map is harsh with tall mountains and a snowy landscape. We got a little glimpse of it in the trailer, and it looks amazing. The Fatui are also quite technologically advanced. Venti had stated that Fatui are the strongest of the seven regions in terms of military strength and technological advancement. We have already seen their strength after facing many of the Fatui Harbingers.

The developers also touched on this by revealing the trains that will connect the different cities in the vast map. But expect more massive strongholds as cities, instead of the normal comfort locations you would generally find in the other locations.

Snezhnaya’s New Combat, Mechanics, and NPC Behavior

Like every new area in Genshin Impact, Snezhnaya will also have a distinctly new combat mechanic. Now, whether it will be something major like the introduction of Bloom and the Lunar reactions, or minor, like the Arkhe system in Fontaine, and the Phlogiston system in Natlan, is yet to be seen.

The developers did reveal that there will be certain locations where players will be able to influence the landscape and change it. These changes would also be shareable, and it sounded like the Arknights Endfield Blueprint system in some ways.

As for battles in Snezhnaya, players can expect new ways to make use of the Cryo element, beyond simply triggering elemental reactions. Cryo will be able to destroy, shatter, and even reshape the battlefield terrain, influencing enemy movement paths.

The NPCs and enemies will also behave slightly differently in Snezhnaya. Hoyoverse is currently working on a mechanic where you can unlock hidden questlines by defeating certain enemies, or some patrolling enemies can join fights while you are engaged in a different combat. For the second scenario, I would assume that patrolling guards can join and help the traveler defeat monsters, because we can already aggro multiple enemies in the game.

The devs also tease that in a special location, the players will have a completely new gameplay experience. They mention that it would be something ‘only the Descender could possibly do.’

Genshin Impact Snezhnaya Characters

Genshin Impact Snezhnaya will introduce a completely new roster of characters, and you may have already seen some of them in the trailers. Here is a list of possible Snezhnaya characters that could become playable in the upcoming new land:

• Anastasya Feodorovna Snezhnaya — Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon
• Sandrone — 8th-ranked Fatui Harbinger
• Pulcinella — 5th-ranked Fatui Harbinger
• Alice — Founder of Hexenzirkel Mages
• Il Capitano — 1st-ranked Fatui Harbinger
• Childe’s new form — 11th-ranked Fatui Harbinger
• Traveler Cryo Element

When it comes to character options, the Cryo Archon and the Traveler unlocking their Cryo powers come first to mind. These are confirmed to happen, even though Hoyoverse may not have announced them officially yet.

Going past that, Sandrone can be the first character to become playable in Genshin Impact Snezhnaya. Yes, we know about Sandrone’s death during the Nod-krai storyline, but there is a possibility of her reviving based on certain clues left behind before and after her death sequence. The players are already familiar with her, so she can be the guide for us heading into Snezhnaya.

Next, Pulcinella is one of the Fatui Harbingers who has remained in the shadows. There is not much known about him, and he doesn’t appear evil at first glance. This might mean that he can be a playable character, but that’s just a guess from us, and we don’t have any leaks to back it up. Pantalone, on the other hand, clearly looks like a villainous character, so I am already counting him out as a possible playable character.

Now, Il Capitano merged with the Lord of the Night during the Natlan arc, but he is a very good asset for a playable character. If Hoyoverse plans to bank on his popularity, then Snezhnaya is the perfect place to bring a miracle and revive him.

Finally, Childe is one of the most popular Fatui Harbingers, and we already have a playable version of him. However, with his potential and popularity, we can see a new form of Childe as playable in the Cryo nation. Hoyoverse has done that before in other games, like Honkai Star Rail, which just introduced Silver Wolf LV.999, a new form of the old character.

For characters outside of their Fatui origin, the first person that comes to mind is Alice. She was already confirmed not to become playable in the upcoming Nod-Krai versions, so we may see her becoming playable in Snezhnaya.
