- There are eight Hexerei characters in Genshin Impact — Durin, Venti, Albedo, Mona, Klee, Sucrose, Razor, and Fischl.
- To become a Hexerei character, players must complete the tasks in the Witch's Homework for that specific character.
- After unlocking it, these characters obtain new abilities and passives when alongside another Hexerei character in a party.
Genshin Impact Luna III brings a ton of changes to the base game, one of them being Hexerei characters. This is a new designation for certain characters in the game, and it comes with a ton of benefits. However, the entire concept of Hexerei characters can be a bit confusing for the average player. So, here is a quick explanation of what Hexerei is, and a list of all the Hexerei characters in Genshin Impact with their passives.
What is the New Hexerei Passive in Genshin Impact?
Genshin Impact Luna III adds the new Hexerei passives to the game. The Hexerei passives apply to the characters who are associated with the Hexenzirkel mages. In terms of lore, Venti realizes that there is a threat on the horizon, which forces him to acquire his hidden power. Venti plans out a way to do this with the Hexenzirkel mages. He and the Traveler head to the Thousand Winds Temple, where he finally acquires his hidden power, further emboldening the theory of Venti being Istaroth.
So, that’s how Venti got his kit buffs, but there is more. The Hexenzirkel Mages are deeply connected to Mondstadt, with Knights of Favonius even signing a pact with them that forces them to protect the Anemo capital when they are threatened. And with a new threat nearing, Alice introduces the Witch’s Homework for many of the Mondstadt characters.

The Witch’s Homework includes a series of tasks that must be completed with that character to unlock them as a Hexerei character. Once they become a Hexerei character, they unlock the Hexerei Secret Rite effect. A party must have two Hexerei characters to trigger this buff. So, what are these buffs? That’s explained in the following section.
All Genshin Impact Hexerei Characters and Their Passives
The Hexerei Secret Rite brings a ton of changes to eight characters of Genshin Impact. If you want a simpler explanation of the buffs received by each character, read our Genshin Impact old character buffs guide. But for those who prefer a more detailed understanding of the new character changes, here we have added all the details. There are eight Hexerei characters currently in Genshin Impact:
- Durin
- Venti
- Albedo
- Mona
- Klee
- Sucrose
- Razor
- Fischl
More characters will likely be added to the Hexerei list in the future, especially as more Hexenzirkel mages are released. With that said, now let’s take a look at the kit changes for each of the Hexerei characters in detail.
1. Durin
Durin is a new character, so we won’t be mentioning any buffs as they are already part of his kit. Check our Durin build guide to learn more about the character. Now, when it comes to his Hexerei Secret Rite, it increases the Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus ascension talent of the character by 75%. This talent massively increases the Vaporize and Melt damage, and reduces elemental resistance on enemies based on Durin’s form. So, getting such a massive buff to this talent shows how important it is to play Durin with at least one other Hexerei character.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Ode to Ascension (Passive) | Increases all effects of the Ascension Talent Light Manifest of the Divine Calculus (except for Duration) by 75%. |
2. Venti
Venti has received the most changes with the new Hexerei Secret Rite. It has now transformed into a very strong Anemo DPS. For his kit, the new buffs change how his Normal Attack and many of the Constellations work. For more details, look at the table below.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Temporal Wind’s Eulogy (Passive) | While the Stormeye created by the Elemental Burst Wind’s Grand Ode is active, for 4s after a nearby active character triggers a Swirl reaction, that character’s DMG is increased by 50%, and Venti’s Stormeye deals 135% of its original DMG. |
| Divine Marksmanship (Normal Attack) | While the Stormeye created by the Elemental Burst Wind’s Grand Ode is active, Venti will gain additional buff effects: -> Venti’s Normal Attacks will be converted into enemy-piercing Windsunder Arrows that deal even more Anemo DMG to opponents along the path. -> When Venti’s Normal Attacks hit opponents, Stormeye’s duration is increased by 1s, and its CD is increased by 0.5s. This effect can be triggered once every 0.1s and up to 2 times after each use of the Elemental Burst Wind’s Grand Ode. |
| Splitting Gales (Constellation 1) | Fires 2 additional arrows per Aimed Shot, each dealing 33% of the original arrow’s DMG. Additionally, 2 extra arrows that track opponents will be fired per Windsunder Arrow, each dealing 20% of the original arrow’s DMG. This effect can be triggered once every 0.25s. |
| Breeze of Reminiscence (Constellation 2) | Skyward Sonnet decreases opponents’ Anemo RES and Physical RES by 24% for 10s. Additionally, after unleashing the Elemental Burst Wind’s Grand Ode, Venti gains the Wherever a Breeze Blows effect, and the cooldown for his Elemental Skill Skyward Sonnet is reset. After a Windsunder Arrow hits an opponent, there is also a 25% chance for Venti to gain the Wherever a Breeze Blows effect. Wherever a Breeze Blows: When pressing to unleash the Elemental Skill Skyward Sonnet, 300% of the original amount of DMG is dealt. This effect lasts for 15s and is removed after Venti presses to use the Elemental Skill Skyward Sonnet. |
| Hurricane of Freedom (Constellation 4) | After unleashing his Elemental Skill Skyward Sonnet or Elemental Burst Wind’s Grand Ode, Venti and his own active party members gain a 25% Anemo DMG Bonus for 10s. |
| Storm of Defiance (Constellation 6) | Targets who take DMG from Wind’s Grand Ode have their Anemo RES decreased by 20%. If an Elemental Absorption occurred, then their RES towards the corresponding Element is also decreased by 20%. Additionally, the DMG Venti deals to these opponents will gain a CRIT DMG Bonus of 100%. |
3. Albedo
Albedo is another character who has received a ton of changes after becoming a Hexerei character. His passive allows his Skill to create Silver Isotoma, which can generate Transient Blossoms, increasing its usage and uptime massively. Further, he also deals a lot more damage now and is viable for many teams.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Book of Blinding Light (Passive) | -> When Albedo hits an opponent with his Elemental Skill within 20s of using an Elemental Skill, it will generate Silver Isotomas near the opponent that last for 10s. When there are no Solar Isotomas created by Albedo on the field, and as long as Albedo is not downed, a single Silver Isotoma will begin generating Transient Blossoms, just as Solar Isotomas would. There can be up to two Silver Isotomas generated by Albedo on the field at any one time. -> After creating a Solar Isotoma, nearby party members’ Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG are increased by 4% for every 1,000 DEF Albedo has for 20s. The maximum increase that can be achieved this way is 12%. -> After generating a Silver Isotoma, nearby Hexerei party members’ Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG are increased by 10% for every 1,000 DEF Albedo has for 20s. The maximum increase that can be achieved this way is 30%. |
| Calcite Might (Passive) | Transient Blossoms generated by the Elemental Skill Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma deal 25% more DMG to opponents whose HP is below 50%. Additionally, if there is a Silver Isotoma on the field that was created by Albedo, the DMG dealt will also be increased by 240% of Albedo’s DEF. |
| Flower of Eden (Constellation 1) | Transient Blossoms generated by Albedo’s Elemental Skill Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma regenerate 1.2 Energy for Albedo. Additionally, the use of Albedo’s Elemental Skill Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma also increases his DEF by 50% for the next 20s. |
| Opening of Phanerozoic (Constellation 2) | Transient Blossoms generated by the Elemental Skill Abiogenesis: Solar Isotoma grant Albedo Fatal Reckoning for 30s: -> Unleashing the Elemental Burst Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide consumes all stacks of Fatal Reckoning. Each stack of Fatal Reckoning consumed increases the DMG dealt by Fatal Blossoms and Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide’s burst DMG by 30% of Albedo’s DEF. -> This effect stacks up to 4 times. Additionally, when Albedo is not on the field and when the stack count of Fatal Reckoning reaches 4, all stacks of Fatal Reckoning are consumed. This generates 3 Fatal Blossoms near your character, which will violently bloom to deal AoE Geo DMG equal to 300% of Albedo’s DEF, DMG that will also be considered Elemental Burst DMG. Where the Passive Talent Homuncular Nature has also been unlocked, the Elemental Mastery of nearby party members will also increase by 125 for 10s. |
| Descent of Divinity (Constellation 4) | Active party members within the Solar Isotoma field have their Plunging Attack DMG increased by 30%. Additionally, when a nearby active character on the team jumps near a Silver Isotoma, the Silver Isotoma will be destroyed while greatly increasing the height of that jump, and for the next 3s, said character will deal 30% more Plunging Attack ground impact DMG. This effect is removed 0.1s after Plunging Attack ground impact DMG is dealt. |
| Dust of Purification (Constellation 6) | Active party members within the Solar Isotoma field who are protected by a shield created by Crystallize have their DMG increased by 17%. Additionally, use of the Elemental Burst Rite of Progeniture: Tectonic Tide destroys all Silver Isotomas present on the field, and whenever a Silver Isotoma is destroyed this way the current instance of Elemental Burst will also remove 4 stacks of Fatal Reckoning from the Constellation Opening of Phanerozoic. This increases the DMG dealt by Fatal Blossom by 250% of Albedo’s DEF for the next 20s. |
4. Klee
Klee has always been considered among the worst 5-star characters in Genshin Impact, but that has finally changed. With her addition as a Hexerei character, she finally deals consistent damage and has a faster attack animation.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Sparkborne Magic (Passive) | When Klee deals DMG with Normal Attacks, Elemental Skills, or Elemental Bursts, she gains 1 Boom Badge, lasting 20s. Each type of attack can grant at most 1 Boom Badge this way, and each badge has its own independent timer. While Klee has 1/2/3 Boom Badges, her special Charged Attack Boom-Boom Strike deals 115%/130%/150% of its original DMG. |
| Pounding Surprise (Passive) | During the duration of Klee’s Elemental Burst Sparks ‘n’ Splash, her Normal Attack sequence does not reset. If Klee holds an Explosive Spark while performing Normal Attacks, the third attack in the sequence will consume 1 Spark to unleash an additional attack equivalent to Boom-Boom Strike. |
| Chained Reactions (Constellation 1) | Attacks and Skills have a certain chance to summon sparks that bombard opponents, dealing DMG equal to 120% of Sparks ‘n’ Splash’s DMG. For 12s after triggering the above effect, Klee’s ATK is increased by 60%. |
| Explosive Frags (Constellation 2) | When Klee’s Elemental Skill hits an opponent, that opponent’s DEF will be decreased by 23% for 10s. |
| Sparkly Explosion (Constellation 4) | An explosion will be triggered if Klee leaves the field while Sparks ‘n’ Splash is active or when Sparks ‘n’ Splash ends, dealing 555% of ATK as AoE Pyro DMG. If Klee is on-field when the explosion occurs, its DMG will be increased by 100%. |
| Blazing Delight (Constellation 6) | While under the effects of Sparks ‘n’ Splash, Klee will regenerate 3 Energy for all members of the party (excluding Klee) every 3s. For 25s after Sparks ‘n’ Splash is used, all other party members will gain a 10% Pyro DMG Bonus, and Klee will gain a 50% Pyro DMG Bonus. Hexerei: Secret Rite: When Klee uses an Explosive Spark, there is a 50% chance it will not be consumed. Additionally, while Sparks ‘n’ Splash is active, Klee’s Normal Attacks have a 40% chance on the first and second hits to consume an Explosive Spark, dealing an additional attack equivalent to Boom-Boom Strike to her opponents. |
5. Mona
Mona has also received a good buff, increasing Vaporize’s elemental damage based on he number of Astral Glow of Mercury she consumes. Also, her charged attack now extends the Omen duration on enemies, increasing its uptime in fights.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Genesis of Starsigns (Passive) | When Mona’s Normal Attacks or Charged Attacks hit an opponent, she gains 1 stack of Astral Glow of Mercury, for 8s. Max 3 stacks. This effect can grant at most one stack every 0.1s. When other party members trigger a Vaporize reaction on an enemy, all Astral Glow of Mercury stacks are consumed. Each stack consumed increases the damage of that Vaporize reaction by 5%. Additionally, when Mona’s Normal Attacks or Charged Attacks hit an opponent, the enemy’s Omen duration is extended by 2s. This effect can trigger at most once every 0.5s, and can extend the Omen by up to 8s through this method. |
| Prophecy of Submersion (Constellation 1) | When any of your own party members hits an opponent affected by an Omen, the effects of Hydro-related Elemental Reactions are enhanced for 8s: -> Electro-Charged DMG increases by 15%. -> Lunar-Charged DMG increases by 15%. -> Vaporize DMG increases by 15%. -> Hydro Swirl DMG increases by 15%. -> Frozen duration is extended by 15%. Additionally, when your off-field party members trigger the above effect, the DMG Bonus to the above Hydro-related Elemental Reactions is enhanced to 160% of its original effect. |
| Lunar Chain (Constellation 2) | When a Normal Attack hits, there is a 20% chance that it will be automatically followed by a Charged Attack. Additionally, within 5s after Mona unleashes her Elemental Burst Stellaris Phantasm, her next Normal Attack that hits an enemy will automatically trigger a Charged Attack. This Charged Attack effect can only occur once every 5s. When Mona’s Charged Attack hits an opponent, all nearby party members will have their Elemental Mastery increased by 80 for 12s. |
| Prophecy of Oblivion (Constellation 4) | When any party member attacks an opponent affected by an Omen, their CRIT Rate is increased by 15%. When any Hexerei party member attacks an opponent affected by an Omen, their CRIT DMG is increased by 15%. |
| Rhetorics of Calamitas (Constellation 6) | While Mona is the active character, when she enters Illusory Torrent, or there are opponents affected by an Omen nearby, she gains a 60% increase to the DMG of her next Charged Attack per second. A maximum DMG Bonus of 180% can be achieved in this manner. The effect lasts for no more than 8s. Additionally, the DMG Mona’s Charged Attacks deal to opponents affected by an Omen will be increased to 200% of the original DMG. |
6. Razor
Razor’s buff is more straightforward than the other Hexerei characters. He is getting a straight-up damage buff after using his Burst, which is already his bread and butter in Genshin Impact. Being an Electro DPS, getting a DMG buff is not bad and does make Razor more viable to play.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Surge of Lightning (Passive) | Razor’s Elemental Burst Lightning Fang is enhanced: -> The Wolf Within’s DMG dealt is increased by 70% of Razor’s ATK. While the Wolf Within summoned by Razor’s Elemental Burst Lightning Fang is active, if the Electro Sigils from Razor’s Elemental Skill Claw and Thunder overflow, the Wolf Within will call down a lightning strike on nearby enemies, dealing AoE Electro DMG equal to 150% of Razor’s ATK and restoring 7 Energy to Razor. This effect can be triggered once every 1s. |
| Lupus Fulguris (Constellation 6) | Every 10s, Razor’s sword charges up, causing the next Normal Attack to release lightning that deals 100% of Razor’s ATK as Electro DMG. When Razor is not using Lightning Fang, lightning strikes on an opponent will grant 3 Electro Sigils for his Elemental Skill Claw and Thunder. Additionally, when Razor gains Electro Sigils through his Elemental Skill Claw and Thunder, he will gain 3 Sigils instead. For 15s after consuming Electro Sigils, Razor’s CRIT Rate is increased by 10% and CRIT DMG by 50%. |
7. Fischl
Fischl’s buff is also very simple to understand, but tremendously useful at the same time. She simply increases either ATK or Elemental Master of all party members, based on whether an Overloaded reaction or Electro/Lunar-Charged reaction is triggered nearby.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Phantasmal Nocturne (Passive) | Hark, Prince Nachtraben, Ozvaldo Hrafnavins, he who has witnessed the fall of countless worlds. Sing now the starry septet for your sovereign, for this is the moment of deepest sin, when the gathered souls at the end of causality shatter the darkness of fate. Additionally, when Oz is on the field, party members will gain additional buff effects: -> After a nearby party member triggers an Overloaded reaction, Fischl and other nearby active party members have their ATK increased by 22.5% for 10s. -> After a nearby party member triggers an Electro-Charged or Lunar-Charged reaction, Fischl and other nearby active party members have their Elemental Mastery increased by 90 for 10s. |
| Evernight Raven (Constellation 6) | Extends the duration of Oz’s presence on the field by 2s. Additionally, Oz performs coordinated attacks with your active character when present, dealing 30% of Fischl’s ATK as Electro DMG. After Oz performs a coordinated attack, the increased ATK and Elemental Mastery effects of Witch’s Eve Rite: Phantasmal Nocturne are further increased by 100% for 10s. |
8. Sucrose
Sucrose is another character who has become infinitely better with the new Hexerei Secret Rite buff. She now provides a teamwide DMG buff to normal attack, charged attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst of all allies.
| Abilities | Hexerei Secret Rite Buffs and Changes |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Eve Rite: Sevenfold Transmutation (Passive) | -> After creating a Small Wind Spirit, nearby party members’ Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG are increased by 5.71428% for 15s. -> After creating a Large Wind Spirit, nearby Hexerei party members’ Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst DMG are increased by 7.14285% for 20s. |
| Chaotic Entropy (Constellation 6) | If Forbidden Creation – Isomer 75 / Type II triggers an Elemental Absorption, all party members gain a 20% Elemental DMG Bonus for the corresponding absorbed element, and nearby Hexerei characters in the party gain an additional 8.57142% Elemental DMG Bonus for the corresponding absorbed element during its duration. |
