In Short
  • Gemini could gain support to display and respond over other apps.
  • Currently it force opens a new window to display the requested information.
  • This change should also address the inability of Gemini to display on the lock screen without unlocking your device.

Gemini is already a lot better than it was at launch, and it should get lots of features in the coming months until it’s capable of fully replacing the Assistant. Recent reports suggested Gemini could soon integrate your favorite music-streaming apps, and the latest findings suggest that it could make the user experience seamless with the ability to display over other apps.

Popular leaker AssembleDebug via PiunikaWeb was the first to spot this change, which is coming soon. The current Gemini experience is tardy. Whenever you ask questions, Gemini forces you from the current app to the Gemini app to show the results. The upcoming change can thus make way for a seamless experience by letting you continue using Gemini over other apps. It’s weird to think that this feature wasn’t available since day one.

I hope this also solves another problem that has kept me from fully switching to it, that is, when you trigger Gemini from the lock screen, the app asks you to unlock your device first and then shows you the results. Not a great user experience.

Besides, AssembleDebug shared a few other upcoming features with our good friends at Android Authority. Some of the features include the ability for Gemini Advanced users to upload any file. The Android app is currently limited to just photos, while the web version has had the feature for some time.

What do you think about Gemini app’s display over other apps functionality? What are some of the features you would like to see arrive in Google Gemini? Let us know in the comments below.
