Epic Games has dropped a surprise April Fools update in Fortnite, and it brings a bunch of wild new features to Battle Royale gameplay. While everyone on the island is roaming around with big heads and shooting Finger Guns, one of the most fun additions with this update is Rideable Llamas. Here’s how you can find Fortnite Rideable Llamas and ride them in the game.
Where to Find a Rideable Llama in Fortnite?
A Rideable Llama is not readily available in Fortnite Battle Royale like vehicles or ziplines, nor is it as easy as piggybacking a teammate for a Shoulder Ride.
You can only find Rideable Llamas in Fortnite April Fools update when the new Llamanomaly Rift Anomaly takes place during a Battle Royale match. This new Rift Anomaly was added alongside the latest update, and it spawns Llamas across multiple locations on the Fortnite map.
Once the anomaly is active, you can open your mini-map and notice small Llama icons scattered across the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 map. You can also pay close attention to your compass on top of your screen, which will guide you to the nearest Rideable Llamas in Fortnite.
However, be advised that Rift Anomalies spawn at random across Battle Royale matches. So if you got the Llamanomaly in one match, it is not guaranteed you’ll come across it again in the next match.
How to Ride and Tame Llamas
Once you’re close to a Rideable Llama in Fortnite, you’ll see a White Llama Icon as a visual cue signaling that the creature is nearby. Walk closer to it and press the Interact button (Square/X on controller or E on PC) to ride it.
When you hitch the ride, the Llama will bounce around in whichever direction you move it using your movement and look keys. You can also hit the Sprint key to make the Llama run, similar to how riding Wolves and Boars used to work in Fortnite.
As you continue riding the Llama in Fortnite, you will gradually fill up the Taming Llama meter. During this phase, the Llama will begin dropping ammo or loot pool items for you or other players in its path. Once you fill the meter up fully, the Rideable Llama will turn gold and reward you with up to 350 Gold Bars and a Chug Jug.
You can continue riding the Llama even after you have tamed it fully into gold. However, it is important to remember that the Llama has a limited health pool of 900, which means you have to be careful when riding it during a fight. You can still use weapons like Finger Guns while riding the Llama, so put its speed to good use to maneuver around your enemies.
Furthermore, you can also stack other players on top of you while riding a Llama, combining the Shoulder Ride and Rideable Llamas in one sweet April Fools combo in Fortnite.
What Happens When You Shoot Rideable Llamas in Fortnite?
When you shoot a Rideable Llama in Fortnite, it will get knocked down and continue dropping ammo like standard Loot Llamas. Once you’ve dealt enough damage to bring its health pool down to zero, it will burst open, and you’ll only be able to claim the ammo dropped by the Llama.
So, it is advisable to ride and tame a Llama to get better rewards in a Fortnite Battle Royale match. The Rideable Llamas were originally slated for removal on 24 hours after the April Fools update was released. However, Epic has chosen to keep Rideable Llamas and Shoulder Riding as permanent features in Chapter 7 Season 2, thanks to positive player feedback.
