Every Known Poneglyph in One Piece (So Far)

In Short
  • One Piece has revealed to us four road poneglyphs located in Fishman Island, The Whale Tree, The Room of Treasure, and Mt. Fuji Cavern.
  • Oda has also revealed several historical poneglyphs, located in the Tomb of the Kings, Golden Belfry of Shandora, Tree of Knowledge, and Sea Forest.
  • Finally, the pirate crews in One Piece have also stumbled upon some poneglyphs with an unknown purpose.

The poneglyphs hold the key to unraveling the mysteries surrounding the world of One Piece. We’ve seen many different poneglyphs since the beginning of the series, with the first one being revealed in Arabasta. Each has provided us with a bit of history, information about Laugh Tale, and more.

Now that One Piece has reached its final saga, it’s not only time for Luffy and the Straw Hats but for us to witness the discovery of even more poneglyphs and uncover the truths about this pirate-laden world. But first, we must go over all of the poneglyphs that we have seen up to this point. So, I have compiled all the information about the poneglyphs we have seen so far in One Piece here.

Spoilers Warning: This article contains spoilers about the various Poneglyphs in One Piece. We highly suggest you read the manga until the latest chapter and watch the anime to avoid ruining your intended experience.

We have already covered everything you should know about poneglyphs and its different types in a separate guide. So, if you want a recap about these giant stone blocks with scriptures, I suggest you go through that article first. That said, without any further ado, let’s begin!

The road poneglyphs are the key to unlocking the greatest treasure in the One Piece world. So, let’s first go over the locations and descriptions of the four Road Poneglyphs:

1. Fishman Island

  • Location: Sea Forest (Previously), Unknown (Currently)

The mysterious road poneglyph that we know about but haven’t seen yet is this one. Remember the historical poneglyph located at the sea forest of Fishman Island? I bet you will remember this since it was a distinct one carrying the apology of Joy Boy.

It is stated that this poneglyph lies next to the aforementioned historical poneglyph. But years later, all of a sudden, this road poneglyph vanished. Right now, it is considered to be a lost treasure and a piece of new information about this poneglyph came to the surface at the end of the Wano country arc.

Currently, it is heavily rumored that a man with burn scars has this road poneglyph. We are waiting to see if this rumor turns true or not.

2. The Whale Tree

  • Location: Zou

The Zou arc was a mini-arc, but it was one of the best arcs in One Piece. This arc revealed to us so many mysteries, among them was a road poneglyph. This is also where we learned that each road poneglyph contains information about a location and when all four are combined, it will lead us to the last island, Laugh Tale. This road poneglyph was found inside the gigantic whale tree at Zou.

As we are aware, the Straw Hats and Heart Pirates got a copy of this road poneglyph. However, the heart pirates were later defeated by Blackbeard Pirates, and that resulted in Blackbeard snatching a copy of this poneglyph from Trafalgar Law.

3. The Room of Treasure

  • Location: Totto Land, Whole Cake Island

Big Mom, an ex-emperor of the sea, owned a Room of Treasure in the heart of Totto Land. This is where she kept her prized possessions and was highly guarded by her soldiers. During the Whole Cake Island arc, we witnessed the Straw Hats executing a masterful plan to get a copy of this road poneglyph, and it was a huge success.

As a result, now the Straw Hats own a copy, and to our surprise, the Kid Pirates also got a copy as they ransacked one of Big Mom’s sweet commanders. However, that didn’t last long in their hands as the Red Hair Pirates claimed it after thrashing their captain Eustass Kid recently. The latter will be one of the best fights in the ongoing Egghead arc in One Piece.

4. Mt. Fuji Cavern

  • Location: Wano Country

The final road poneglyph we have here is kept hidden in the submerged area of Mt. Fuji in the land of Wano. Its location is only known to a few people, as revealed recently in the One Piece anime. We saw Kozuki Sukiyaki tell the tale about why it is kept hidden.

After that, Nico Robin and Law received a copy of this road poneglyph. As a result, the Straw Hats currently hold a copy. But the copies of Kid Pirates and Heart Pirates are implied to be lost to the winners, i.e. Shanks and Blackbeard, respectively.

So as of now, Luffy holds three out of the four road poneglyphs while the current possession of the ex-allied forces is unknown.

5. Tomb of the Kings

Historical Poneglyphs are the type of poneglyph in which a piece of important history or a message is engraved. A total of four poneglyphs have been revealed so far, and they are:

  • Location: Arabasta

The first ever poneglyph we saw in One Piece is this historical poneglyph, found inside the Tomb of the Kings in the Arabasta Kingdom. The Nefertari family was safeguarding it for generations and the recent reveal about this family makes more sense and justifies the reason why they kept it so secure.

The information this poneglyph carries is the location of an ancient weapon named Pluton.

6. Golden Belfry of Shandora

  • Location: Sky Island

The second historical poneglyph we came across was located up on Sky Island near the Golden Belfry of Shandora. It was safeguarded by the Shandians for ages, just like the Nefertari family. And similar to the one we saw above, this poneglyph listed the details and locations of another ancient weapon named Poseidon.

Another important fact about this poneglyph is that when Roger visited Sky Island, he asked Oden to inscribe a little message on it. That message from Roger is: “I have come here and will lead this passage to the farthest ends of the world.”

7. Tree of Knowledge

  • Location: Ohara

This was the poneglyph that the scholars of Ohara along with Nico Olvia (mother of Nico Robin) researched in the flashback of the Ohara incident. It is mentioned that this poneglyph holds vital information about the ancient kingdom known as the Great Kingdom and Void Century.

When the World Government came to know about this research, the entire island was wiped out through a Buster Call.

8. Sea Forest

  • Location: Ryugu Kingdom, Fishman Island

This was the most unique historical poneglyph we have come across in our journey with the Straw Hats. While everyone thought historical poneglyphs were meant to contain pieces of history, this was different. It carried a message from an ancient person, who is famously known as Joy Boy.

It is an apology from him to the people of Fishman Island for not living up to what he promised to them.

9. Child Nico Robin’s Discovery

There are many poneglyphs we have come across, which hold unknown purpose. We don’t know if they are historical poneglyph or instructional poneglyph, but we for sure have witnessed them on various islands of the seas.

  • Location: West Blue

After the Ohara Incident, Robin was on a run from the World Government as she had a whopping bounty, even when she was just 8 years old. During this time, she came across a poneglyph on an unknown island located in West Blue. Currently, we don’t know anything about its location or the information inscribed in it.

10. Jinbe’s Discovery

  • Location: Coastal Ruins (Previously), The Room of Treasure, WCI (Currently)

Jinbe, one of the strongest Fishmen in One Piece, chanced upon this unknown poneglyph when people in the Coastal Ruins informed him about it. Then, he along with Wadatsumi, took this with them and handed it over to Big Mom.

As usual, Big Mom sealed this inside her room of treasure, which is guarded along with the road poneglyph. However, when the Straw Hat Pirates raided the Totto Land, they got a copy of this poneglyph along with the road one.

11. The Room of Treasure

  • Location: The Room of Treasure, WCI

We got to see yet another unknown poneglyph in the possession of Big Mom inside the room of treasure. We don’t know how the ex-emperor of the sea obtained all of these poneglyphs in the first place.

All we do know is that during the invasion by Straw Hat Pirates, they successfully got a copy of this poneglyph as well along with two other poneglyphs. So a total of three different poneglyphs were in the possession of Big Mom and all three copies are now held by the Straw Hats.

12. Kozuki Oden’s Discovery

  • Location: Unknown

When Kozuki Oden joined the Roger Pirates in his journey to find the One Piece, he stumbled upon a poneglyph on an unknown island. Whilst we have seen several other poneglyphs during Roger’s journey, the information about this poneglyph never reached us.

Only Oden and the rest of Roger’s crew know about this poneglyph, but we might learn about it later in the story.

13. Trafalgar Law’s Discovery

  • Location: Skull Dome second basement, Onigashima

In search of Road Poneglyphs, Law found an unknown poneglyph that was in the possession of Kaido. It was found in the second basement of the Skull Dome of Onigashima. He confirmed that this is not the road poneglyph he was seeking and the information about this poneglyph was never disclosed to us.

14. Shogun Castle Basement

  • Location: Shogun castle basement in the Flower Capital, Wano Country

During the climax of the Wano Country arc, Sukiyaki revealed two poneglyphs located secretly in the basement of the Shogun Castle. While one of them was confirmed to be a Road Poneglyph, the other one remains unknown to date.

This is also the place where Sukiyaki was confined as you can see the kokeshi dolls surrounding the poneglyph. We currently do not have any relevant information about this poneglyph as well.

And that’s a wrap to our explainer for all the poneglyphs we have seen in One Piece so far. We hope you learned information about each poneglyph, their location, and what’s inscribed on them. Out of the 30 poneglyphs, we have seen only 14 as of now. Thus, the remaining 16 poneglyphs will soon be unveiled in the final saga. That said, what do you think about these poneglyphs?
