The Last of Us Season 2 premiered today with a solid opening episode, introducing fans to a lot of new faces. Does Ellie’s Girlfriend, Dina, Die in The Last of Us?
Dina starts out as one of Ellie’s close friends but later becomes her love interest in the TLOU video game series. In the upcoming episodes, she will travel with Ellie on a mission to exact revenge against Abby (read why Abby is looking for Joel in TLOU Season 2). Dina helps Ellie in her retaliation quest through the ruined lands of Seattle, and we soon learn that she is pregnant with Jesse’s child. Therefore, Dina remains alone at the theatre and helps Ellie whenever she can with things such as patching her up, fixing the radio, etc. During this time, Dina is left alone, which keeps her constantly worried about her partner Ellie’s status.
As seen in The Last of Us Part 2, she will be safe at the theatres for a while until Abby hunts them down for killing the rest of her friends. In the intense showdown between Ellie and Abby, Dina tries to land a surprise attack on Abby with her knife, but Lev prevents her by shooting an arrow through her shoulder.
Furthermore, when Abby is about to slit the throat of a pregnant Dina, Lev fortunately intervenes her from doing more harm. Thus, Abby spares their lives and walks away. It was a turning point in Dina’s life as her former partner was killed just a few moments earlier, and she barely survived at the end.
What Happens to Dina in the Ending of The Last of Us?
After Dina makes it out alive, she and Ellie move to the farm outside of Jackson and raise their newborn together. It is a new and peaceful beginning for both until Tommy comes to their home and ruins everything they have built by reminding Ellie that she has a pending score to settle with Abby.
Ellie, still blinded and fueled by vengeance, plans to set out and find Abby again. But this time, she is stopped by Dina, who asks her partner to drop this futile pursuit of vengeance. Dina makes it clear that she doesn’t want to simply wait for Ellie, who could die on her revenge quest again as she once lived the pain of this when she was stuck in the theatre previously. Ellie still walks away even after hearing her partner’s emotional speech.

In the end, Ellie realizes the precious things in her life that she lost while exacting revenge. She lets go of Abby and returns back to the farm only to find out that Dina has left. The Last of Us Part 2 game ends on an ambiguous note with Ellie leaving, possibly to go to Jackson.
It is hinted that Dina and the kid could have moved back to Jackson, with Ellie leaving them all alone. So, Dina is not dead and survives in the end, but her current whereabouts and relationship with Ellie are left to the interpretations of the fans.
