- Use Blood Grenades, Rocket Launchers, or capture BTs with EX Catcher Grenades to kill BTs in Death Stranding 2.
- Alternatively, escape by crouching, holding your breath, and watching the Odradek scanner when BTs are nearby.
- Smoke grenades also help players avoid Watchers and escape the BTs without any confrontation.
Death Stranding: On the Beach takes combat to a whole new level. Unlike the original, you now have multiple new ways to approach fights in the sequel. While tranquilizing human enemies is often the safer route, BTs remain the real challenge when completing missions. In this guide, you’ll learn how to kill BTs in Death Stranding 2, or how to escape them if you want to avoid unnecessary chaos.
How to Kill BTs in Death Stranding 2
The game offers players plenty of options to choose from in terms of weapons. While I suggest you avoid any fights in the early game, if you find yourself in one, the Blood Grenades are your best bet. These grenades create a cloud of blood, dealing damage to the BTs over time.
While the Grenade Launcher and Assault Rifles are some of my favorite options, the Quadruple Rocket Launcher is the ultimate weapon to kill BTs of any size as you approach the late game.

However, if you get your hands on the Battle Guitar or the EX Catcher Grenade, things will become even easier. The EX Catcher Grenade lets you play Pokemon in Death Stranding 2. Yeah, players can throw this grenade when boss BTs are weaker to capture them. Then, summon the captured BTs against other bosses and let them brawl it out.

How to Escape from BTs in Death Stranding 2
While fighting the BTs sounds cool, I recommend that you escape them for a much safer adventure. Here are a few tips that you can follow to avoid combat with the BTs in Death Stranding 2:
- Track your Odradek: When the BTs are nearby, your Odradek scanner will blink. The closer they are, the more frantically it will blink. Look to stabilize this scanner to know you are clear of the BTs.
- Crouch to avoid attention: The normal BTs can’t see you. So, as long as you can crouch and avoid making footsteps, you can easily escape them in Death Stranding 2. If you accidentally stumble upon them by accident, press R1 immediately to hold your breath. This will give you a short window to walk away from them. If you are still caught, you can shake them off.
- Use smoke grenades: While the normal BTs can’t see you, the Watchers can. To avoid their line of sight, you can deploy the smoke grenades. This will give you enough cover to run away from them.
That’s how you can kill the BTs or escape them in Death Stranding 2. Are you choosing to eliminate the threat, or are you more sneaky like me? Do tell us in the comments below.
