With Season 4 Reloaded all but over, attention has now shifted towards the upcoming Black Ops 6 Season 5 update. As we inch closer to the end of the game’s update cycle, the content releases are heating up, starting with the arrival of the final Zombies map in the upcoming update. Season 5 will also add a selection of new weapons, multiplayer maps, and more to the game. With all the new content officially confirmed, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 5, including its release date.
Black Ops 6 Season 5 Release Date
Black Ops 6 Season 5 will be released on Thursday, August 7, at 9:00 AM PT (12:00 PM ET/5:00 PM GMT). As always, the release date was revealed ahead of schedule via the Season 4 Battle Pass timer. And unlike Season 4 Reloaded, the upcoming update will not suffer from a delay.
Black Ops 6 Season 5 Content
The highlight of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 5 is sure to be the new Zombies map, but there will be plenty to enjoy for multiplayer fans as well. On that note, here’s all the confirmed content coming with the new season:
New Weapons

Four new weapons will join the BO6 arsenal in Season 5. They include:
- PML 5.56: Full-auto light machine gun. Fast rate of fire and high lethality offset by low mobility and hefty recoil.
- ABR A1: Three-round burst assault rifle. Good handling and power. Moderate recoil and range. Configurable to full auto.
- Boxing Gloves: Moderate damage. Fast attack speed. Long range.
- Gravemark .357 Revolver: Single-action revolver. High power and considerable range, limited by lower ammo count and segmented reload.
The PML 5.56, or the M249 as it’s more popularly known, was revealed days ago via the Season 4 outro cinematic. The heavy-duty LMG is all about concentrated fire coupled with ridiculous damage output. Long reload times and the weapon’s clunkiness hold it back from being a must-use, but it’s still a force to be reckoned with.
The AUG makes its CoD return in the shape of the ABR A1 – a three-round burst AR. Built for all sorts of skirmishes, the weapon packs a ton of damage while keeping things manageable on the recoil front. Players can also switch the weapon’s fire type by acquiring its full-auto conversion kit.
The third new weapon coming this season is a pair of Boxing Gloves. Slip them on and slap your enemies silly with furious jabs and deft uppercuts. You’ll need to get right into the opposition’s face, of course, but it’s still a fun weapon for players who’re crazy enough to try it.
Lastly, the Gravemark .357 is a classic single-action revolver, made for popping heads from a respectable distance. Due to its slow rate of fire and low ammo count, the weapon is best-suited for skilled hands.
New Attachments

Two new attachments will be released during Season 5:
- 9mm PM Skull Splitter Barrel: Bring the power and precision of a marksman rifle to your favorite Pistol. The Barrel greatly increases damage, especially to the head, reducing the rate of fire.
- PPSh-41 Helical Magazine: Fire to the beat of your own drum with this SMG attachment that puts other magazines to shame. Manage heat on this high-ammo count magazine that excels at spraying bullets in close and medium ranges.
New Maps

Three maps are joining the Black Ops 6 playlist at Season 5 launch, with one more confirmed to arrive during the mid-season Reloaded update. Here’s an overview of all the maps:
- Runway: This new medium-sized map is set around the wreckage of a terminal. A destroyed aircraft sits at the heart of the map, its fuselage blasted to bits, and the plane’s nose poking through the Food Court inside. Other points of interest include a parked tank and a baggage claim section complete with a conveyor belt.
- Exchange: The Exchange map takes players back to Avalon, with the location being a vibrant marketplace on this occasion. The small-sized three-lane map is decked out with a Deli, Bar, Fruit Stall, and a Seafood Market near its southern corner. Shortcuts that route back to the center ensure that the tempo remains high throughout the match.
- W.M.D: Black Ops 1’s Nova 6 processing laboratory has been reimagined for Black Ops 6, with its newest iteration ditching the snow for an overcast day around the Autofiorno vehicle manufacturing plant. The layout remains largely the same, but is outfitted with theme-specific additions such as a Paint Shop, Administration room, Car Parts, Showroom, Design, and Assembly floor, etc.
- Jackpot (Mid-Season): Set in the opulent interiors of Casino Luttazzi from BO6’s single-player campaign, the map lets you wreak havoc all throughout the Avalon Casino. From a gazebo to a center stage, there’s plenty to gawk at, but you’ll have no time to stare at the attractions or spin some slots since the action is frenetic.
New Modes
Call of Duty Season 5 brings a wide range of returning modes in Black Ops 6, along with one new addition:
- Aim High: Aim High is a modifier available across modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed, where headshots land instant eliminations while full body armor minimizes damage dealt anywhere below the neck.
- Snipers Only: As the name suggests, all Operators land with Snipers only, so bust out those quickscoping skills in this limited-time mode.
- Cranked Moshpit: Crank up the adrenaline in this Moshpit where eliminations give you speed Perks and activate a bomb countdown on your Operator. Chain eliminations to refresh the bomb timer and earn twice the score for your team. If you do get taken out, start the process again and keep slaying to maintain your momentum.
- Cranked Demolition: Make Demolition even more explosive with Cranked mechanics thrown into the mix! Alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites while managing your Cranked timer and chaining eliminations to stay alive.
- Ransack: Get rich quick or die trying, as Ransack returns in the mid-season. Score points by looting gold bars from piles around the map and from fallen enemies. Fill your inventory and then deposit the gold in your team’s deposit box before the enemy can take you out and nab your riches.
- Blueprint Gunfight: Bring some style to your Gunfight matches in the mid-season Blueprint Gunfight playlist, giving players the chance to try out a variety of new Weapon Blueprints while gunning for victory.
New Events

Four new events will join Black Ops 6 across the entirety of Season 5. Here’s a quick rundown:
- ’90s Action Heroes: Take it over the top and be the leading hero you’re meant to be in this Event that pays homage to action flicks. Earn the new Boxing Gloves melee weapon, a BlackCell Boxing Gloves weapon variant if you own BlackCell, plus other great rewards.
- Operation Hell Ride: Don’t get your wires crossed in this Event, challenging Operators to save the day from a ticking time bomb. Rewards include the Gravemark .357 Revolver
- Atomic Block Party: It’s time to commemorate everyone’s favorite chaotic battleground! Engage in a Nuketown-inspired event full of rewards.
- The Reckoning Leaderboard (Zombies): Play a Zombies match to get entered into Season 05’s The Reckoning Leaderboard Event. Eliminate the undead on the Reckoning Zombies map to earn Leaderboard Points, with Special, Elite, and Boss enemies awarding the most Points.
Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 5 Content

Season 5 will be huge for Zombies fans as the update brings with it the highly-awaited Janus Towers map. Named ‘Reckoning,’ the headquarters of Project Janus serve as the stage of the final showdown between S.A.M. and Richtofen. The towers are in a desolate state with emergency enforcement protocols active throughout their haunted halls. Expect resistance beyond the standard pack of zombies, as robot battalions — known as Kommando Klaus — will appear periodically to hunt down your crew.
On top of this, there’s a new Elite Enemy by the name of Uber Klaus — a murderous automaton encased in a toughened, bulky exoskeleton that maintains a cocky attitude, lethal efficiency, and super strength, all directed at newly-programmed threats. To bring it down, wear down the automaton’s heavy shielding while avoiding its melee attacks. Once the exoskeleton is broken, the Uber Klaus Core will eject, revealing its second deadly form.
New Wonder Weapon

Combining fungal, floral, and insectile traits to deliver precise impact damage and gravity-defying disruption in close quarters, the Gorgofex is the latest Wonder Weapon to join Zombies. The Pistol fires a slug of Aether-based energy. Here’s an overview of how it works:
- On impact, the weapon inflicts a dense area of direct damage with a tight area of effect. The damage of the impact varies depending on whether the user charges the attack before release.
- Shortly after impact, energy from a fully charged blast dissipates outward, inflicting damage in a wide area.
- The dissipation seems to cause a focused temporary gravitational anomaly, catching and incapacitating enemies to float at just above head height.
The official Call of Duty blog teases two additional variations of the weapon that are yet to be revealed.
Reckoning Main Quest Reward

Players who manage to complete the Reckoning main quest and hunt down its easter egg will receive the “Blood, Sweat, an’ Gears” Operator Skin for Grey, an intriguing Weapon Charm, multiple Calling Cards, and sizable XP rewards.
Team Cranked LTM
The fan-favorite Team Cranked mode returns in Season 05 with refreshed rewards. Your entire squad is tied to a single shared timer, and the moment any player takes down a zombie, the team enters the Cranked state, boosting abilities and starting a 30-second countdown that only zombie eliminations can refill. Survive a round, and that max time drops by one second, pushing the pace faster with every wave. Wall weapons? Gone. The Mystery Box is your sole supplier, but boosted Essence earnings while Cranked mean you’ll have plenty of chances to swap Essence for random gear.
I Know What You Did Last Summer Collab

This won’t please the mil-sim purists, but Call of Duty is set to welcome another pop culture crossover. Following up on the Beavis and Butt-Head and American Dad collaborations, Season 5 will feature a movie tie-in with ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ Players can look forward to cosmetics and Operator skins themed around the horror flick, all available as part of a Tracer Pack.
And that wraps up everything you need to know about Black Ops 6 Season 5. We’ll be updating this guide with new information as soon as it drops, so be sure to bookmark it. And also let us know your expectations from the seasonal update in the comments.
