In the previous chapter of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the young rogue shinobi came to Konoha to ask for help from Sumire. During his clash with Jura in Sunagakure, Boruto’s sword (which he had inherited from Sasuke earlier) was unfortunately chipped in the middle. Thus, Boruto came all this way to Sumire and gave her the blueprint of a technology to upgrade the swords that she would eventually discover in the future. Now, as promised earlier, Sumire has completely revamped the sword in the latest chapter, and it’s the best upgrade we have seen so far.
Sumire Upgrades Sasuke’s Sword in Boruto TBV Chapter 28
Earlier, Boruto performed the Uchiha Style Blade Technique: Hagoromo to maintain the strength and durability of his inherited sword. However, this technique needed his continuous focus and attention during battles to keep it on at all times. Fortunately, Sumire comes in clutch and significantly improves all the aspects of Sasuke’s sword.
First of all, by heat treating and slightly changing the sword’s shape, the overall strength and sharpness of the blade are increased to a significant level. Then, the main upgrade completely eliminates the weakness of the Uchiha Style Blade Technique: Hagoromo. From now on, the sword is capable of maintaining this technique once Boruto grabs it and activates the jutsu without needing to keep an eye on it.
The sword can withdraw Boruto’s chakra as needed on its own, and Sumire has added a failsafe in case someone else steals his sword. Sumire has registered Boruto and Sasuke’s chakra to the sword along with hers. So whenever someone else (other than the registered users) takes Boruto’s sword, the sword will automatically drain the stealer’s chakra. Some fans have already started calling out that even Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada, doesn’t get access to her father’s sword.
The upgrades don’t stop here, as Sumire has added a special material to Boruto’s sword. The author has decided to keep this matter a secret for the time being. With Boruto having already begun his battle against Mamushi in this chapter, we will get to see what the special material is and the advantage it brings to Boruto in the upcoming chapter.
For now, Sasuke’s sword has undergone a major overhaul, and even Sasuke will be surprised to see its newfound strength when he comes back from the human god tree trap. All thanks to Sumire, Boruto can engage in battles without worrying about his sword’s durability, allowing him to put all his attention on his fights.
