In Short
  • Based on utility, Support is the best Class in Battlefield 6.
  • Engineer trails closely behind, thanks to its roster of anti-air weapons and explosive launchers.
  • Assault are solid frontliners but can't do much else, while Recon is basically useless if you aren't playing as a Sniper.

Battlefield 6 sees the return of the franchise’s trademark Class system, giving every player a role to fulfill besides mowing down every enemy in sight, of course. The Class system restricts players to specific archetypes, arms them with varied gear, and allows them to specialize in different departments. Even in a playlist with Open Weapons, your chosen Class has plenty of influence on your combat capabilities. While every option offers some sort of specialization, some Classes just have more utility than others.

So, if you’re struggling to pick the best option for your playstyle, check out our guide ranking every Class in Battlefield 6.

1. Support

The designated medic can’t be the best Class in Battlefield 6, could it? Well, if you give said medic deployable supply bags that constantly refill their ammo and allow them to thrive in sustained gun fights, then yes, Support is indeed the best class in the game. And did I mention that they’re proficient in LMGs, meaning they reap the benefits of a massive magazine size but without any of the movement penalties? If you haven’t ascertained it from my tone, it’s a little ridiculous just how effective the Support class is.

The benefits of those supply bags also apply to throwables, which is why Support players are constantly dousing sight lines in Smoke Grenades, making squad rotations quite easy in the process. They’re also armed with a Defibrillator that can revive squadmates in an instant, while netting them half the XP of an elimination.

To surmise, not only is Support well-tuned for combat (provided you use LMGs, of course), but the Class is also likely to earn you more XP than any of its counterparts. Those two reasons alone make it the best option in the game. Here’s an overview of Support’s kit:

  • Supply Bag (Signature Gadget): A deployable bag that resupplies all nearby infantry with ammo for gadgets and weapons, and helps them regenerate health more efficiently.
  • MG (Weapon Proficiency): No sprint speed penalty while using LMGs.
  • Quick Revive (Signature Trait): Faster drag and stationary revives as compared to other Classes.

2. Engineer

Engineers are Battlefield 6’s demolition experts. Their arsenal includes a variety of vehicle deterrants and explosive launchers that can cripple enemy offensives or help lock down defensive positions. They also come with a Repair Torch that can quickly get friendly vehicles back into the fight. Based on just these two traits, having a healthy number of Engineers in your Conquest lineup is simply essential.

Beyond all this, Engineers have plenty of ways to get guaranteed kills. If you find yourself in a cul-de-sac, surrounded by enemies on all sides, just pull out the RPG and aim at a nearby structure for some instant chaos. In CQB-oriented modes such as Domination, their AV Mines can help lock down occupied zones by giving enemies an explosive surprise to contend with.

The sheer range of tools at the Engineer’s disposal gives the Class so much utility, and that’s without taking their SMG proficiency into context. Here’s a look at the Engineer’s kit:

  • Repair Tool (Signature Gadget): A blow torch to repair friendly vehicles and equipment. It can also damage enemy assets.
  • SMG (Weapon Proficiency): Improved hip-fire control when using this weapon class.
  • Flak Jacket (Signature Trait): Decrease damage taken from explosives.

3. Assault

The Assault Class in Battlefield 6 are your standard frontliners. These guys are responsible for spearheading offensives, claiming objectives, and registering kills on the scoreboard. In terms of traits and abilities, things are pretty straightforward. They’re skilled with Assault Rifles, as smooth as can be in motion, and also carry Stims to reenergize them after sustaining critical damage.

Their arsenal is loaded with Gadgets that can eliminate enemies in all sorts of ways. You’ve got the overpowered SS26 in the undersling for CQB, as well as the Thermobaric Grenade Launcher, which is almost a surefire way to get kills. Even if the fire doesn’t finish them off, its AOE spread will force hostiles to relinquish their positions.

If you’re all about climbing the scoreboard and enjoy going gung-ho from the get-go, then Assault offers almost no complication and plenty of utility to help you dominate servers. Here’s how the Class’s kit looks like:

  • Adrenaline Injector (Signature Gadget): Provides blast and suppression resistances, which last until you get damaged.
  • Assault Rifles (Weapon Proficiency): Faster weapon draw and switch times.
  • Soft Landing (Signature Trait): Reduced fall damage and no movement speed penalty after falling.

4. Recon

The only reason anyone would pick Recon is because they’re playing as a Sniper. That sums up the entire point of the Class, and to give it some credit, it provides all the tools for the job. For starters, Recon is the only Class that permits you to stabilize your aim by holding your breath. On top of this, it comes with a Motion Sensor that detects and reveals the position of nearby moving enemies, vehicles, and gadgets on your squad’s mini-maps. Additionally, many players believe that the Class offers greater accuracy with Sniper Rifles when compared to the other three.

All this should be enough to convince Sniper mains, but it’s important to note that versatility is not a part of Recon’s toolkit. All of its traits and Gadgets are geared towards enhancing your perception and making you stealthier. But if you charge into combat or try to play offensively, almost nothing in its kit will support you. On that note, here’s a look at its traits:

  • Motion Sensor (Signature Gadget): This device detects and displays the position of nearby moving enemies, vehicles, and gadgets on team members’ mini-maps.
  • Snipers (Weapon Proficiency): Stabilize aim by holding breath and rechamber quicker between shots.
  • Auto-Spot (Signature Trait): Looking at enemies while in ADS makes them spotted.
