Battlefield 6 aims to turn a new leaf for the franchise by doubling down on signature gameplay mechanics and releasing a brand-new Battle Royale experience. While the mode has been confirmed by EA, official details on its map, features, and release date remain unknown. Fortunately, leaks from reputed sources have revealed some of these details in recent weeks, prompting us to put all of them together. On that note, here’s everything we know so far about the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Release Date (Rumored)
While EA has officially unveiled the Battle Royale and provided a small glimpse at its setting, it remains tight-lipped about when the mode will be released. The silence lends further credibility to long-standing rumors that suggest the BR will arrive at some point after BF6’s October 10 launch. As for what the exact launch window is, only time will tell. We’ll be sure to update this section once further updates emerge.
Is Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Free-to-Play?
According to reports from various sources, yes, the Battlefield 6 Battle Royale will indeed be free-to-play. By removing the cost of admission, BF6’s BR will have a fighting chance against genre heavyweights such as Warzone and Fortnite. An entertaining Battle Royale experience could convince players to buy the full product and experience the multiplayer, allowing EA to attract a wider group of players.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Teaser
At the end of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer gameplay event, EA provided the first official look at the Battle Royale via a 20-second teaser. In it, we get a glimpse at its sunny setting (reportedly set in California), its destructible environments, vehicles, and the ring of fire that surrounds the map. The fire-based circle is reminiscent of Battlefield V’s Firestorm, which was the franchise’s tame answer to Call of Duty: Warzone.
Following the gameplay event, Battlefield’s Global Community Manager, Kevin Johnson, confirmed that the Battle Royale will be joining the Battlefield Labs program soon, allowing select players to check it out ahead of the mode’s proper reveal. While the closed playtest is protected by an NDA, you can expect clips of BR gameplay to pop up online, just like its intro cinematic.
Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Gameplay Leaks
Infamous Battlefield Labs dataminer, ‘temporyal,’ posted an expansive thread on Reddit, which carried a ton of information about BF6’s Battle Royale. Before jumping into the leaks, keep in mind that all of these details are yet to be confirmed, despite how credible they may seem.
Map
As per the leaks, Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale map is reportedly set in California and named ‘Granite.’ At the heart of the map is a classified military R&D facility that has been attacked by multiple unidentified PMC groups. To prevent classified information from being stolen, the ‘Handler’ deploys you and tens of other players into the battlefield.
The dataminer drew up a mock-up of the BR map using leaked information to give fans an idea of what it’ll look like. However, this mock-up was quickly copyright-striked by EA, which does make you feel that the concept was a little too close to the real thing.
Priority Missions
Priority Missions are high-reward opportunities that give players moment-to-moment objectives to tackle. In essence, they’re similar to Warzone’s Contracts, barring two major differences. The first are the mission rewards, as Battlefield 6’s Battle Royale will reward players with combat vehicle access keycards, custom weapon drops, and more, as compared to cold, hard cash in Warzone.
Secondly, when a nearby enemy squad starts a mission, you may be given the chance to stop them and steal their rewards. This is an interesting twist that could add another dimension to the way objectives work. Here’s what the counter mechanic could look like in the game:
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your squad’s Marked Mission. They will try to eliminate (Marked PlayerName).
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your squad’s High Value Assets Mission. They will try to calibrate your beacons.
- Watch out! Another Team is countering your Demolition Crew Mission. They will try to stop you or defuse the bomb.
Custom Weapon Drops
Just as the name suggests, custom weapon drops are said to be airdropped support packages containing your customized weapons. The mechanic looks to borrow from Warzone’s loadout system, but you can only retrieve one custom weapon at a time. To get a second custom weapon, you’ll need to find a different drop which are said to be increasingly rare.
Second Chance
The Battlefield 6 Battle Royale could feature an automatic revive mechanic, which redeploys players if they die too quickly after the match’s start. This means that if you die within a set time limit, take the first three minutes of the match, for example, you’ll be respawned automatically. However, this will be your second and final chance at survival. No more repawns will be possible beyond this point, unless your squadmates use a Redeploy Point.
Mobile Redeploy Points can be found as rare loot and as a reward for completing missions. Players can use them to bring fallen squadmates back to life. In addition, they can also contest Redeploy Points activated by hostiles to pause their activation progress.
NXC Flamefront

The lethal ring of fire surrounding the map has been termed the ‘NXC Flamefront,’ and it is never stable. The ring constantly collapses until nothing remains, as NXC instantly destroys anything it touches. You’ll also start burning if you get too close to the ring, meaning it might be a bigger threat than other squads in some cases.
Oversight System
The Oversight System allows eliminated players to stay in the fight using remote cameras, drones, and turrets. It all starts with capturing Oversight Terminals found on the map, which gives dead squadmates control of advanced security systems with lethal potential. These include a turret that can fire upon oncoming enemies, public cameras that can be used to scout ahead, and drones that can deploy bombs remotely.
As mentioned earlier, all of these gameplay details are yet to be confirmed. So, be sure to take them with a grain of salt. We’ll be sure to update this article once more details are revealed, so consider bookmarking this page.
