One of the biggest superhero team-ups ever seen on screen goes to the credit of Avengers Endgame. This movie ended the long streak of 22 movies set in the Infinity saga. Avengers Endgame boasts a huge list of cast members, which includes almost every Marvel superhero we’ve ever seen on screen.
Initially, in the movie, the cast was reduced to a few members of the team who survived the snap in Avengers: Infinity War. However, familiar faces kept coming back gradually, first when the team time traveled back to retrieve the infinity stones, and later on when The Hulk brought back everyone who had been snapped using the gauntlet made by Tony Stark. In this article, find out the complete list of characters we get to see in Avengers Endgame.

1. Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America)
The first Avenger who grew to be the leader of the Avengers, Captain America, made his last stand in this movie. He was responsible for not only retrieving the Mind Stone in the past but also turning out to be worthy of wielding the Mojonir. He used it to fight Thanos in an epic one-on-one fight. By the end of the movie, he traveled back in time to be with Peggy Carter. We see him for the last time as an old man who hands over his shield to Sam.
2. Chris Hemsworth (Thor)
One of the most loved characters in the whole of MCU is none other than Thor. He is often given the title of the most powerful Avenger in the MCU and he has rightfully earned that title for himself. Now in this movie, we witness a distraught Thor who has given in to fast food, beers, and an unhealthy amount of Fortnite. However, eventually, he redeems himself from his destructive habits and is proven to be still worthy of his hammer by his mother. He fights alongside the Avengers in the battle of Earth and they stand victorious.
3. Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man)
The most loved character in the whole of MCU is none other than Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. His character has been a fan favorite since his very first appearance in Iron Man (2008). Since then Iron Man has made multiple appearances in movies across the MCU and he took his last stand in the final movie of the Infinity Saga. He sacrificed his life by using the Infinity Stones to stop Thanos and his army. Iron Man’s death was a huge setback for fans across the world but hey, MCU is now exploring its possibilities with the multiverse, and who knows we get to see our beloved Tony Stark appear in some alternative timeline.
4. Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk)
In this movie, Bruce Banner and Hulk find common ground and we see a version of Hulk comprised of equal parts of both Bruce and Hulk called Professor Hulk. We see that he helped develop time travel and also volunteered to put on the gauntlet created by Iron Man snapping everyone who had been removed from reality by Thanos back into existence.
5. Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton/ Hawkeye/Ronin)
Jeremy Renner appears in this movie not as Hawkeye but as Ronin, who is seen hunting down men from the Yakuza gang at the beginning of the movie. He is devastated by the loss of his family by Thanos’ snap and has gone down a bloody path. However, he comes back to the Avengers and fights alongside them with him, finally reunited with his revived family.
6. Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff/ Black Widow)
Black Widow plays an extremely crucial role in this movie. She is the one whose sacrifice enabled the Avengers to get their hands on the Soul Stone. She willingly gave up her life so that Hawkeye could be granted the Soul Stone which eventually led to the Avengers being successful in reviving everyone.
7. Don Cheadle (James Rhodes/ War Machine)
Rhodey is one of those characters who are always left in a state of surprise when he encounters something he doesn’t seem to grasp his mind around. In this movie, the same happened to him when he was introduced to time travel. He had a hard time understanding time travel but he eventually came along and successfully retrieved the Power Stone from Morag. By the end of the movie in the final battle scene, we see him sporting a brand new version of the Iron Patriot armor.
Other Characters Who Survived Thanos’ Snap
There were certain characters that we were not aware of surviving the snap at the end of Avengers Infinity War. In this section, we have listed all the characters who appeared in Infinity Wars and survived Thanos’ snap.
1. Paul Rudd (Scott Lang/Ant-Man)
Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man is the guy who made everything that happened in Avengers Endgame possible. Thanks to the curiosity of that rat, he was brought back from the Quantum Realm when Hope was unable to pull him out of there because of Thanos’ snap. He is the one who figured out time travel and was part of the team along with Iron Man, Captain America, and Hulk tasked with retrieving the Space, Time, and Mind Stones. Scott got back with the Mind Stone while the others retrieved Space and Time Stones. He was the one who saved Hulk, Rocket, and War Machine from drowning after Thanos attacked the Avengers tower.
2. Karen Gillan (Nebula)
Nebula is one of the daughters of Thanos who switched sides and joined the Avengers. She is the one who figured out where Thanos might be hiding. She along with Rhodey is tasked with retrieving the Power Stone but as soon as she time-traveled, her memory network betrays her, and the past version of her alerts Thanos about what is going on. The past version of Nebula captures her and starts working as an imposter among the Avengers. However, the good Nebula escapes with the help of Gamora and kills the evil version.
3. Josh Brolin (Thanos)
Thanos was killed off in the very first 20-30 minutes of Avengers Endgame after he had already destroyed the Infinity Stones. Thor used his axe this time to actually “go for the head,” thus beheading Thanos. However, that was not the end of Thanos’ conquest. Thanks to the newly discovered time travel, the 2014 version of Thanos came back using Tony Stark’s time machine which he took from Nebula. While he did give the Avengers a huge fight, he was ultimately taken down by Tony Stark who laid down his life to protect Earth.
4. Bradley Cooper/Sean Gunn (Rocket Racoon)
Rocket was the last surviving member of the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers Endgame. Thor initially thought of Rocket to be the captain of the Guardians of the Galaxy and under the circumstances where Thor was distraught, Rocket had to live up to that role to bring his head back into the game. Rocket successfully extracts the Time Stone from the Asgard of 2013. He also takes part in the final stand of the Avengers against the armies of Thanos and by the end of the movie recruits Thor as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
5. Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie)
Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie became an instant hit among the viewers who saw her in action in Thor Ragnarok. While Thor played a major role in Avengers Infinity War, we did not get to see Valkyrie in action at all and the viewers did not like that. So, in Avengers Endgame, we get to see her living in the New Asgard and she joins the Avengers in their fight with her Pegasus. She was crowned as the Queen of New Asgard.
6. Brie Larson (Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel)
Captain Marvel becomes a part of the team initially in the movie. She rescues Iron Man and Nebula from deep space and also helps the Avengers kill Thanos. However, after this mission, she leaves Earth once again to patrol the galaxy. She returns to Earth in the final moments of the movie to assist the Avengers fighting Thanos.
7. Benedict Wong (Wong)
Wong made his appearance in the initial moments of Avengers: Infinity War but then teleported back to Kamartaj to protect it from the inevitable war. He is the one who helps to teleport the Avengers army in the battle against Thanos. He also cast spells to protect the forces fighting alongside the Avengers when Thanos ordered an airstrike.
8. Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts)
Pepper Potts has been dating Tony Stark for a long time but now they are married and she is quite happy that Tony has left being a superhero behind him. However, Tony goes back to being a superhero so that he can get Peter and everyone else back. Potts finally puts on the Rescue Suit and fights alongside the Avengers against Thanos and his army.
9. Danai Gurira (Okoye)
Danai Gurira plays the role of Okoye who is the head of the Dora Milaje and the General for Black Panther’s army. After the Snap and Black Panther’s disappearance, she stays in touch with the Avengers but doesn’t get involved in their stuff. She made her reappearance after everyone was snapped back into existence with the whole of the Wakandan army at the disposal of the Avengers.
10. Winston Duke (M’Baku)
Winston Duke plays the role of the head of the Jabari Tribe, M’Baku. He gained popularity after his appearance in Black Panther and Avengers Infinity War. We did not get to see him for most of the movie but he made his appearance in the final moments of the movie and fought alongside the Avengers against Thanos’ army.
11. Taika Waititi (Korg)
Korg was very much of a warrior when we last saw him in Thor: Ragnarok. However, he had put his fighting days behind him and settled down at New Asgard where he spends his time playing video games. Even after this, we saw him take part in the battle alongside Thor and the other heroes.
12. Angela Bassett (Ramonda)
Angela Bassett plays the role of Ramonda, the mother of Black Panther and Shuri. She didn’t disappear in the snap and was reunited with her children when they came back to take care of Wakanda.
13. Emma Fuhrmann (Cassie Lang)
In this movie, we get to see that Cassie Lang, Ant-Man’s daughter has grown up and has thought of her father to be a victim of the snap. She is overwhelmed seeing Scott back after almost five years. During the events of Endgame, it seems as if she has not yet started to use the Pym Particle.
Avengers Who Returned After Hulk’s Snap
All the Avengers who had been snapped by Thanos came back after Hulk put on the gauntlet and snapped everyone back into reality. In this section learn all about the Avengers Endgame characters who came back after Hulk’s snap.
1. Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spiderman)
After Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the mantle of Spiderman was passed on to Tom Holland. Even though people were skeptical of how Tom would carry the legacy of Spiderman, I think that he was able to catch up to these legendary actors portraying Spiderman. In this movie, the screen time of Spiderman was significantly lower since he was revived by the end of the movie. We see him use the instant kill feature of his suit for the first time and some remarkable action sequences while he is defending the gauntlet.
2. Chadwick Boseman (T’Chala/ Black Panther)
One of the most remarkable revivals in this movie was that of Chadwick Boseman. His appearance was very iconic for Black Panther fans since this is the last time we get to see Chadwick as Black Panther. Out of all Avengers Endgame cast, he was one of the characters who were revived after Hulk snapped his fingers wearing the gauntlet. As Captain America was ready to make his stand against the whole of Thanos’ army, Black Panther along with the whole of the Wakandan army appeared to assist him leading into a heroic battle.
3. Benedict Cumberbatch (Stephen Strange/ Doctor Strange)
Doctor Strange reappeared after the snap and if you look at it, without him, the Avengers would never have received help in time. He along with the other Sorcerers are the ones who opened the portal for the armies of Kamartaj, Wakanda, and New Asgard to reach the front before Captain America could engage in battle with the entirety of Thanos’ forces. Also, Doctor Strange is the one who lets Tony Stark know that this is the one possibility where they would win against Thanos if Tony chose to put on the Infinity Stones himself.
4. Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes/ The Winter Soldier)
If Captain America is taking a stand against someone, how can Bucky let him do it alone? Bucky Barnes was also blipped out of reality after Thanos’ snap. However, after Hulk’s snap, he was right beside Steve in his hour of need. The chemistry between Steve Rogers and Bucky has always been impeccable but in Infinity War and Endgame, we get to see an amazing chemistry between Bucky and Rocket as well.
5. Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/ The Falcon)
Sam Wilson was the first one to appear through the portal created by Doctor Strange and his sorcerers. As soon as we see the portals open behind Captain America, we see the Falcon fly out of one of them. This let the Captain know that his team’s efforts did not go in vain and they successfully revived everyone they had lost.
6. Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/ Star-Lord)
Peter Quill is the one we all blamed for his emotional outrage that caused Thanos to snap back from the sleep Mantis put him in. Due to this the others were unable to pull off the gauntlet from Thanos’ hand and as a result, the snap happened. In Endgame, Peter Quill was revived, and he met the younger version of Gamora who travelled back in time with Thanos. After the events of Avengers Endgame, we can clearly see how Gamora, not knowing Peter has affected him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
7. Vin Diesel/Terry Notary (Teen Groot)
The main reason why Rocket was working with the Avengers to find the Infinity Stones was to revive his friends. Beside Peter, Drax, and Mantis, his best friend, Groot was also turned into dust by Thanos. However, after Hulk’s snap, Groot and all his friends were brought back to life. By the end of Avengers Endgame, Thor also joins Rocket and the other Guardians of the Galaxy.
8. Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer)
If we talk about the Avengers Endgame cast tasked with providing us comic relief, we can’t just leave out Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer. He is one of those characters who became a fan favorite right from their first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.1. Him being a victim of the Snap broke the hearts of fans across the globe, but his reappearance was equally loved by the fans of Guardians of the Galaxy.
9. Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne/Wasp)
Hope Van Dyne was also a victim of the Snap. She was supposed to pull Ant-Man out of the quantum realm but was not able to do so because she was quite literally snapped out of reality as it is. This was the sole reason Ant-Man was with the Avengers trying to figure out time travel, so he could bring Hope back. His will and the support of the other Avengers made it possible for them to figure out time travel, which made it possible for The Avengers to build a gauntlet of their own, which in turn brought everyone back to life.
10. Pom Klementieff (Mantis)
Mantis was one of those heroes who took the fight to Thanos in Avengers Infinity War. She was tasked with keeping Thanos docile while the other Avengers would try to take Thanos’ infinity gauntlet off his arm. However, their attempt failed and she ended up being a victim of the Snap. However, along with the other Guardians of the Galaxy, she was brought back to life.
11. Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury)
With other major Marvel characters, Nick Fury was also snapped out of reality by Thanos. However, we do not see him fight against Thanos’ army but he makes his appearance at Tony’s funeral. After this, he left Earth and was on the S.A.B.E.R space battle station according to Marvel’s Secret Invasion where Nick Fury returns to Earth to fight against the Skrull aggression towards humans.
12. Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne)
We didn’t see Janet Van Dyne fight against Thanos in Avengers Endgame but according to what we get to know in Ant-Man Quantumania, she was snapped out of reality as well and came back after the events of Avengers Endgame.
13. Michael Douglas (Hank Pym)
Just Like Janet Van Dyne, Hank Pym was also snapped out of reality and came back after the events of Avengers Endgame. We did not get to see him in the movie well.
14. Letitia Wright (Shuri)
In Avengers Infinity War, we see Shuri trying to separate the Mind Stone from Vision to destroy the stone without killing him. However, her attempts failed and in the end, Vision was killed at the hands of Thanos. Shuri was also wiped from reality. In Avengers Endgame, Shuri was brought back to reality by Hulk’s snap. We see her coming along with Black Panther and the rest of the Wakandan army to join the fight against Thanos and his army.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Gamora was killed by Thanos to get the Soul Stone. This was also the reason why Peter Quill lost his cool, causing the plan to get rid of the Infinity Gauntlet to fail. Peter was happy to see her alive, but she did not know him simply because they had not yet met in her timeline.

9. Terry Notary (Cull Obsidian)
Even though Cull Obsidian was taken care of in Infinity War, we get to see him again in Avengers Endgame. He comes with Thanos of the past in the future using the Pym Particle. Thanos took the Pym Particle from the future Nebula whom he captured and replaced with the past version of hers.

12. Robert Redford (Alexander Pierce)

To get out of this situation the future Tony Stark makes Ant-Man create a short-circuit in the past Tony Stark’s arc reactor. This causes a huge confusion and the future Tony steals the Tesseract. However, he drops it when he runs into the Hulk and Loki escapes using the Tesseract giving a canon to the Loki Series.
13. John Slattery (Howard Stark)
One of the most emotional appearances in the whole movie was the appearance of Howard Stark. He appears when Tony is trying to take the Tesseract with him. Howard tells Tony that his wife is pregnant and they have a pretty heartfelt conversation. Tony in a way has the father-son conversation with Howard which he was never able to have. I don’t know about you folks, but for me, this was the best appearance in this movie.
