A decade ago, who would have thought that anime films would give tough competition to Hollywood movies? These projects, no matter how large, were initially limited to Japan, but things have truly changed in recent years. Anime movies are constantly breaking records, and there is no looking back. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s first movie was released in global theatres a couple of months ago and took the Internet by storm with its mind-blowing animation and emotional beats. Not much time has passed, but it seems a new anime movie that hit worldwide theatres today will break all records, and its Rotten Tomatoes ratings clearly hint at that. You guessed it right, we’re talking about Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc Wins Over the Critics Worldwide

The Chainsaw Man series introduced us to a world full of monsters and devil hunters. Denji, being its heart and soul, has to step forward to fight against devils when his pet Pochita sacrifices himself to save him. While fans knew that Chainsaw Man is all about gore and violence, the Reze Arc movie tells a different story. It gives the audience a glimpse of romance and heartbreak with all the expected action sequences.
Besides everything, it’s the animation that made anime mainstream in recent years, and we can’t express how beautifully MAPPA has crafted this masterpiece. It’s evident why the movie has earned 100% critic ratings and 99% audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
Critics are calling it a visual treat and also a film that will make you cry with the teen love angle. Apart from that, the soundtracks enhance the experience even more. A verified critic on Rotten Tomatoes says, ‘Chainsaw Man: The Movie – Reze Arc really feels like two different movies, but in a way that perfectly reinforces the film’s themes.’
My colleague, Ajith, reviewed the movie, which you can read here. In his review, he writes:
“The Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is the epitome of a perfect adaptation and it goes without saying that the new movie is a treat for all anime fan not just the CSM fandom.”
A viewer on Rotten Tomatoes writes, “An amazing film to watch in theatres. The animation is excellent, and the colors are incredible. The fights are a feast for the eyes, and the story of Denji and Reze is captivating on screen.”
At the moment, there are only 17 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 229 from the audience, but we can expect more soon. Also, given the film’s performance lately, it’s safe to assume it will become one of the highest-grossing films of 2025.
