All Elden Ring Katanas and How to Get Them

Elden Ring is one RPG game chock full of a ton of various weapons across various sub-categories. But no matter the best staff or swords, nothing catches my interest like an Elden Ring Katana. They are one of the fastest weapons in-game that take advantage of bleed damage, a specialized build. But I want you to forget about just one Katana. Instead, let’s talk about all Elden Ring Katanas and how to get them right here to keep you spoiled for choice!

1. Uchigatana

Uchigatana
  • Requirement: 11 Strength, 15 Dexterity
  • Location: Samurai class starting weapon, inside Deathtouched Catacombs (Limgrave)

One of the first Elden Ring Katanas you can encounter is simple Uchigatana. It has an extremely low equipment requirement and is a perfect weapon for players who want to experience dexterity-based gameplay. Furthermore, the weapon skill Unsheathe will help you damage groups of enemies while covering the ground in the process.

If you pick Samurai as your starting class, you’ll get Uchigatana immediately. However, if you are in any other class, you can get a Uchigatana at the Deathtouched Catacombs through one of the dead bodies hanging by a ledge.

2. Nagakiba

  • Requirement: 18 Strength, 22 Dexterity
  • Location: From Bloody Finger Hunter Yura

Now, if you want something longer but almost similar properties to that of a Uchigatana, this Elden Ring Katana is your best option. The Nagakiba comes with a slightly higher equipment requirement but performs similarly to a Uchigatana but with a better range. The weapon skill Piercing Fang allows you to stab your enemy from a distance, dealing a lot of damage.

To get Nagakiba, you have to meet with Bloody Finger Hunter Yura. He resides north of the Murkwater Cave, or in his camp near Seaside Ruins Site of Grace. In both instances, you have to progress through Yura’s questline to obtain the Nagakiba, which he either drops after his death, or after you complete assisting Yura.

3. Moonveil

  • Requirement: 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, 23 Intelligence
  • Location: Dropped from Magma Wyrm in Gael Tunnel (Caelid)

I think anyone who has played Elden Ring has heard at least once about the Moonveil Katana. Even if you’ve never used this Elden Ring Katan, chances are your friend does, and they cannot stop talking about it. Moonveil is an intelligence-based Katana, which still relies on strength and dexterity, but can perform magic simultaneously. Its weapon skill, Transient Moonlight, fires a wave of magic energy from a sheath attack, followed by a long magic slash.

To get this Elden Ring Katana, you have to defeat the Magma Wyrm, which is located on the western cliffs of Caelid. It is near the border of Limgrave if you are coming from Caelid. The Limgrave side is initially closed, requiring you to finish the tunnel from the Caelid side and unlock the pathway. However, once you defeat the boss, you’ll have one of the strongest weapons in Elden Ring!

4. Dragonscale Blade

  • Requirement: 12 Strength, 20 Dexterity
  • Location: Dropped by Dragonkin Soldier in the Lake of Rot (Ainsel River Main)

When you start exploring the various underground locations after defeating General Radahn, you can traverse a location called Ainsel River Main. Once you defeat Blaidd, and take the lift at Ainsel River Main, you’ll reach an area called Lake of Rot. Here lies a boss called Dragonkin Warrior, who you can defeat to receive Draonslace Blade.

This Elden Ring Katana has some special properties that make it well, special. It deals 20% additional damage against Dragon-type enemies and deals 10% damage against Ancient Dragon-type enemies. Outside of that, it only does slash damage, and has a pretty decent equipment requirement compared to the other Katanas in-game. To top it all off the Ice Lighting Sword weapon skill is a solid AOE attack that allows you to kill enemies if they are around you.

5. Rivers of Blood

  • Requirement: 12 Strength, 18 Dexterity, Arcane 20
  • Location: Dropped by Bloody Finger Okina, at Church of Repose (Mountaintop of the Giants)

The Blood Katana in Elden Ring remains one of the weapons that has made the game fun for me. This blood-based Katana leverages the bleed build-up and blood-loss damage in-game. Leveling it up will ensure you have one of the strongest weapons in-game! Its weapon skill Corpse Piler will shred an enemy’s poise, allowing you to attack them with bleed build-up. Ultimately, Rivers of Blood relies on blood loss. So the more damage you do, the better it acts.

You can get this Katana in Elden Ring by defeating Bloody Finger Okina, a hostile summon who appears in your world at the Church of Repose. If you need more help, check out how to get rivers of blood katana right here.

6. Serpentbone Blade

  • Requirement: 11 Strength, 22 Dexterity
  • Location: Tanith at the Volcano Manor rewards you with this weapon for completing the second letter quest.

Serpentbone Blade is a poison-based Katana in Elden Ring, that helps with dealing poison build-up, and ultimately doing poison damage. This weapon deals something called “Lethal Poison,” which lasts less than the normal poison duration, but deals double the damage.

To get this, you visit Mt. Gelmir and go to Volcano Manor. There, you can find the Tanith. She asks you to invade and kill three NPCs across the map. Upon killing the second target, Rileigh the Idle, and delivering the letter, you’ll receive this Elden Ring Katana as a reward.

7. Hand of Malenia

  • Requirement: 16 Strength, 48 Dexterity
  • Location: Dropped by Bloody Finger Okina, located at Church of Repose in Mountaintop of the Giants.

At this point, every Elden Ring player knows the phrase “I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella.” Uttered by one of the strongest side-bosses Malenia, her Katana is a force to be reckoned with. Thankfully this is the same Elden Ring Katana you can get once you defeat her.

The Hand of Malenia comes with a standard Katana range and also helps with bleed build-up. You can grab this weapon by handing over the Remembrance of the Rot Goddess to Enia at Roundtable. And yes, her weapon art, Waterfowl Dance, allows you to perform the same blade-slash dance Malenia performs. So if you’re someone looking for all Elden Ring Katanas, get this one first.

8. Meteoric Ore Blade

  • Requirement: 15 Strength, 14 Dexterity, 18 Intelligence
  • Location: Found inside a chest in the Caelid Waypoint Ruins, inside a small room.

We end our list of all Elden Ring Katanas with the Meteoric Ore Blade. This is another magic-based Katana that helps with bleed build-up in the game upon each slash. And, the weapon skill Gravitas helps pull your opponent towards you, damaging them in the process and decreasing the distance between you both.

Getting this Katana requires you to visit the Caelid Waypoint Ruins at Caelid. It is inside a chest, located in a room underneath these ruins. You have to come to this ruin, head to the northwest section, go down, and defeat Lesser Kindred of Rot before getting the Katana.

These are all the Elden Ring Katanas present in the game. So which one are you getting first? Let us know in the comments below!
