Ryuji Matsuyama in Alice in Borderland Season 3 Explained
Ryuji enters the picture in the first episode of Alice in Borderland Season 3. He is an assistant professor at a reputed college in Tokyo. When his colleagues were interviewing Arisu about his experiences after the tragedy, Ryuji intervenes and asks him if you was dreaming after he went into a comatose state. Ryuji didn’t hesitate to ask our beloved Arisu about the games. However, seeing Arisu getting disturbed, his colleagues stopped him and asked the protagonist to leave the chamber.
After Ryuji leaves the room, we see the men discussing how intellectual he is and how fascinated he is with the Afterlife. Later, he meets Arisu in the hallway and begins conversing with him about the same questions that were posed to him during the interview. Ryuji also states that Arisu may feel free to talk to him about anything he is hesitant to discuss with anyone else.
Usagi awaits Arisu at the front of the university, and there, the latter introduces Ryuji to the former. Ryuji looks shocked after learning that Usagi is also one of the survivors who made it back to the real world from the Borderlands.
One day, Ryuji receives an email from an anonymous person who wants to meet him. After reaching the location mentioned in the message, Ryuji discovers that it’s a woman who survived the games of Borderlands, and now, she is a part of the group that can send people on a journey where they can actually play the ‘games.’ As expected, Ryuji excitedly grabs the chance and arrives at the location, where a man made him and six strangers play ‘Old Maid.’ After winning the game, Ryuji gets to meet Banda.
Later, when Usagi disappears mysteriously and Arisu involves the police to investigate the matter, we learn that Ryuji and Usagi have fallen into a coma. The duo is also suspected of involvement in a crime that has been occurring in Tokyo recently.
