What does everyone use Truecaller for? Well, the primary function of this well-known app is to identify unknown callers and help us tackle spam. But Truecaller is now looking to limit the Caller ID search feature to encourage users to get a paid subscription for unlimited searches.
Recently some Truecaller users received a notification telling them that they only have a limited number of caller identifications left. And this isn’t a hoax. The company has confirmed that it’s conducting an experiment with the most active users. Under the test, you get 100 Caller ID searches per month.
The notification, however, is not going to affect the ID for dialled numbers and contact search capabilities, so you can rest assured on that front. On its support page, Truecaller says,
“As Truecaller is committed to making your communication as efficient and safe as possible, we need to look at means to continue providing our service to our users. We want to ask the users who derive the most benefit from our services to consider upgrading to a Pro subscription.”
It may surprise many to know that Truecaller has a paid ‘Pro’ subscription which will give you the ability to connect with the people you search by name and enjoy an ad-free experience.
The move should help Truecaller get more revenue from the users who use it the most. The Pro subscription is priced reasonably too, so if you really need TrueCaller on a daily basis, it could be well worth it. At ₹30 a month or ₹270 for the year, you get 30 contact requests every month and the option of seeing who has viewed your profile.
