The spooky season is almost here, and as the tradition in most families goes, a night-long, horror-binging session is once again on the table. However, choosing a franchise that everyone would enjoy could turn out to be a massive hassle. To make sure you get it right, here is a list of 10 horror movie franchises that we think you can choose from to preserve the sanctity of this Halloween tradition.

10. Scary Movie

If watching Horror movies creeps you out, but you still wish to indulge in the spirit of the spooky season by binge-watching something that would pass for a horror flick, the Scary Movie franchise is quite literally handcrafted for you. This franchise does not indulge in horror in its traditional sense, but feeds off parodies of ultra-popular franchises such as Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Hannibal, The Ring, and many more.

If you are looking for a movie franchise that would serve you horror but in a way that would have you rolling on the floor laughing, Scary Movie is the way to go.

9. Child’s Play

If you want to ensure your children never ask you for a doll again, consider Child’s Play, the horror movie franchise to watch this Halloween. This franchise revolves around a serial killer named Charles Lee Ray, whose soul gets trapped in a “Good Guy” doll named Chucky as a result of a Voodoo ritual.

The possessed doll is seen throughout the franchise doing unspeakable things to people, but the original movie tells us that Chucky is trying to possess young Andy Barclay, and the same plotline was carried on for a few more sequels before the franchise started exploring more characters.

8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is one of the classic Slasher franchises, and while it has a cult following, in all honesty, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. The very first movie takes us to a group of youngsters who find themselves trapped with a family of psychopaths who attack them in some insanely gory ways.

One of these psychopaths is Leatherface, wielding a chainsaw, who keeps coming after them till the very end. The rest of the movies from the franchise don’t really explore anything new; just the circumstances change according to the movies, which, after a point, becomes repetitive. Moreover, the universe of Texas Chainsaw Massacre is quite messed up, making it difficult to put the story in line.

7. Saw

Saw is by far one of the longest-running franchises when it comes to the horror genre, and while the first few films from this franchise were really good, as time passed, it became more of a cash grab, and people started losing interest in the franchise.

When it comes to Saw, it doesn’t really have a linear story, but features a killer named the Jigsaw Killer who tests his victims will to live by putting them in deadly games where they have to go through unimaginable things if they want to live. If you are into gore and anxiety-inducing movies, this one is handcrafted for you.

6. Scream

Scream is that one franchise that almost every fan of slasher-style movies is aware of. If you are looking for a franchise that perfectly blends horror, gore, and twisted comedy, then you’ve come to the right place. This franchise brings us a series of serial killers wearing a ghost mask, now popularly known as the “Ghostface Mask.”

If you’re just getting into Scream, you might think that Ghostface, or the killer, has some supernatural powers. Still, in truth, he is just extremely cunning, stealthy, and canonically uses his vast knowledge of horror movies to operate. The unhinged quirkiness that would still scare you makes Scream a perfect franchise to binge this Halloween. If this sounds appealing to you, here’s how to watch Scream movies in order.

5. Conjuring

When we speak of popularity, the Conjuring franchise takes the crown among all other horror movie franchises. This franchise brings us a shared universe where we follow the most high-profile cases ever undertaken by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The popularity of this franchise can be accounted for considering the number of movies we see in it, followed by a few spinoffs as well.

However, if you are looking for a franchise to binge, that would make sure you have no one falling asleep, this might just be it. Check out our guide on Conjuring movies in order to start binge-watching the movies before Halloween 2025.

4. Insidious

If you’re feeling really gutsy and also wish to make sure none of the kids in your family sleep for a good week, Insidious is the franchise you should go after this Halloween. The first two films in the franchise see a family moving into a new house to start a new life. However, things take a turn when their son mysteriously enters a coma and becomes a vessel for demonic entities in the astral plane, and what then follows is the absolute worst nightmare one can think of.

Insidious is one of the only franchises in the horror genre that managed to retain its quality with every sequel and prequel it came out with. So, if you are somewhat of a critic yourself, this franchise will not disappoint you.

3. Nightmare on Elm Street

Now we are stepping into the cult classic territory when it comes to horror movie franchises with A Nightmare on Elm Street. This movie brings in Freddy Krueger as the main antagonist. A villain who was killed by fire and has now returned to kill the children of those who burnt him alive. However, the twist here is that he does not kill them while they are awake, but instead, he hunts them down in their dreams, quite literally, and if he kills them in their dreams, the person dies in real life as well.

This IP is one of the biggest names when it comes to slasher-style movies and has had TV adaptations, comic books, and even video game appearances. So, if you are a sucker for classics, A Nightmare on Elm Street will work just fine for you. However, you might not sleep well for a few days.

2. Halloween

Another cult classic that is a go-to choice for a Halloween binge-watching session is the Halloween franchise. This movie introduced us to one of the best-known villains in horror, Michael Myers, a serial killer obsessed with a babysitter named Laurie Strode. The franchise brought us a total of 13 movies, some of which were set in alternate timelines and even spin-offs.

The first movie, released in 1978, introduced us to the basic plot where Michael escapes from an insane asylum and makes his way back to Haddonfield, his hometown, and starts stalking and killing teenagers across town, his ultimate target being Laurie. This is a franchise that has been a Halloween staple for generations, and if you want to do that as well, it won’t be a wrong decision.

1. Evil Dead

Now, I might get called out for this, but I believe that the best of all horror movie franchises to binge this spooky season is Evil Dead. Before you guys come after me for it, let me state the reason why, which leads me to this conclusion. Evil Dead is the perfect blend of horror, gore, twisted humor, and slasher elements, which makes it a complete package for a Halloween night.

On top of that, including the spin-offs, there are a total of 7 movies from the franchise, making a one-night binging session very doable. Also, the story, in the original movies, holds together pretty well and is not too complicated, so it brings simple horror along with a story that does not seem to be all over the place.

So, with that being said, what is your top pick this spooky season? Let us know in the comments, and we at Beebom wish you a Happy Halloween!
