If you’ve been waiting for news about The Witcher 4, there’s finally something substantial to get excited about. CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 4 has moved from pre-production to full-scale production, meaning the game’s development is now in full swing.
CDPR Goes All-in on The Witcher 4, Full Production Phase Begins
Moving to full production isn’t just a fancy term. This means the team has finished planning and laying the groundwork and is now working on building the actual game. During the pre-production phase, they focused on creating the story and the core game mechanics, testing how different ideas and elements work together. Now, they’re taking all those approved plans and turning them into the full game experience.
CDPR isn’t holding back on resources for this project. Out of their 650-person development team, 400 developers are currently working on The Witcher 4. That’s significantly more than the number of people working on their other projects, including the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, which only had 64 developers, and their new IP, Project Hadar, with only 18 developers.
Sebastian Kalemba, who’s in charge of making the game and the director of Witcher 3, seems really happy about how things are going. He went on social media to tell everyone about it.
We don’t know exactly when we’ll get to play it, but knowing that they’re now fully working on it is great news. It means we’re one big step closer to seeing what new adventures await us in The Witcher’s world.
They’re keeping most details secret for now, but one thing’s for sure – with so many people working on it and the success they’ve had with their recent games, they’re clearly aiming to make something that will wow players when it finally comes out.
