After several rumors, it now seems like Aaron Sorkin has indeed cracked the deal with Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White, as both actors have been confirmed for The Social Reckoning. Apart from that, Jeremy Strong and Bill Burr are also confirmed to take on the lead roles in the upcoming movie.

Now, you might see two big names missing from the confirmed cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, who played Mark Zuckerberg in the first movie. Well, as confirmed by Variety, the Succession fame Jeremy Strong will take on the role of Mark in The Social Reckoning.

Of course, several fans were also wondering if Andrew Garfield would return in The Social Network 2; however, in a recent interview with IndieWire, the actor clearly confirmed that he won’t be part of The Social Reckoning. Why? Well, that’s rather simple. Andrew took on the role of Eduardo Saverin, the co-founder of Facebook. However, during the events that we will be featured in the second movie, “Eduardo Saveri is in Singapore having a good time,” as stated by Andrew in the interview. So, it really doesn’t make sense for the character or the actor to return in the upcoming film.

What Could be The Plot of The Social Reckoning?

While the original movie focused on Mark Zuckerberg’s rise and the launch of Facebook, the sequel will center on the negative impact of social media. Additionally, if you recall the Facebook leaks that occurred in 2021, the sequel will shed light on the same. It will revolve around Frances Haugen, the ex-employee who once worked at Facebook and transitioned into a whistleblower in 2021 and leaked the internal details of the users on the platform. The film will also follow Jeff Horwitz, the journalist who was the one to cover the breaking story.
