The Penguin Episode 2: Did You Catch This Easter Egg of DC’s Most Powerful Entity?

The Penguin Episode 2 has been released where we see Ozwald Cobb take a few more steps in the direction of taking over the crime empire of Gotham. This episode introduced us to some new characters as well but there was one element in there that seemed to be put in there as a namedrop easter egg that you might have missed out on.

The Penguin Episode 2 Namedropped Gaea

In the second episode of The Penguin, when the Falcone family is having the funeral ceremony of Alberto, Sofia runs into her cousin Carla. They both compliment each other and then Carla’s daughter walks in asking her mom for some cake. When Sofia asks for her name, the little girl replies with it being “Gia”. Now, this could be purely co-incidental as well but as far as I think it is meant to be an easter egg.

Gaea is one of the most important entities in DC comics and is considered to be the mother of all life on Earth. She is the life force of earth keeping its essence alive. Gaea is also the most worshipped goddess by the Amazons who pray to her for strength and power.

Gaea also has a belt called The Belt of Gaea which is given to the Queen of Amazons. Her most prominent role was seen in the Crisis of Infinite Earths storyline. While Gaea might not have any significant role in The Penguin, the namedrop definitely was an easter egg.

So, did you catch this easter egg in The Penguin Episode 2? Do let me know in the comments and stay tuned for more!
