While companies are striving to find and efficiently manage funds by cutting down costs in all possible ways, a crypto-currency based startup Block. One has burnt out a whopping $30 million for purchasing the domain “voice.com” for its social media app Voice.
The domain was bought from MicroStrategy, a company that offers business intelligence, mobile software, and cloud-based services. “MicroStrategy, a leading worldwide provider of enterprise analytics and mobility software, has sold the Voice.com domain name for $30 million in cash in a transaction facilitated by GoDaddy and consummated on May 30, 2019. The domain name has subsequently been used by Block.one to launch its new blockchain-based social media platform called Voice”, reads their press release.
Voice is a modern-age social networking platform that pays a lot of attention to make sure that the users on its platform are actual humans and not bots programmed to spam the platform thereby causing a depreciation in the platform’s quality. The app uses a special authentication system to ensure that each person signing up on the app is a legitimate user.
The app has Voice tokens which can be earned when people like your posts. If your post goes viral in the app, you earn more Voice tokens. With the earned Voice tokens, you can put your perspective on a particular topic on the top. If someone with more Voice tokens raises their perspective over your opinion, you will get your tokens back along with some extra Voice tokens for trying.
“Block.one has made a smart strategic decision in choosing Voice.com to be the internet domain name for its new social media platform. The word ‘voice’ is simple and universally understood. It’s also ubiquitous ― as a search term, it returns billions of results on the internet. An ultra-premium domain name like Voice.com can help a company achieve instant brand recognition, ignite a business, and massively accelerate value creation“, stated Marge Breya, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, MicroStrategy Incorporated.
Voice is in beta right now and if you want to try out Voice, you may sign up for beta access with your email ID here. The app for sure has caught some media attention due to this surprising domain purchase. We hope the app lives up to its expectations when it gets out of beta and becomes available to the public.
