Sentenced to Be a Hero Cast: All Main Characters and Their Voice Actors (Japanese and English)

Sentenced to Be a Hero is the talk of the anime town despite the Winter 2026 season featuring big names such as JJK, Hell’s Paradise, Frieren, and more. The spin on classic hero story, super fluid action sequences, and fascinating characters are drawing everyone towards the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime. Whether you watched the dub or subbed version of the debut episode, you might have heard some familiar voices. Since only one episode of Sentenced to Be a Hero has been released at the time of writing and episode 2 has been delayed, only a few members of the English dub cast have been revealed so far. But the majority of the Japanese VA cast has been disclosed. With that said, meet the characters and their voice actors of the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime:

1. Xylo Forbartz

Heroes are always the most respected of all in other works, but it’s not the same for Xylo Forbartz in Sentenced to Be a Hero. He was said to be the leader of a Holy Knights group once before being sentenced to become a hero for killing a goddess. Despite the world despising him, our protagonist Xylo strives to eliminate the people who wrongly accused him and made him the undying hero he is today.

Yohei Azakami, who plays Ron Kamonohashi in Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions, Tetcho Suehiro in Bungo Stray Dogs, Gyro Zeppeli in Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, is voicing Xylo Forbartz in the Japanese version. On the other hand, the famous English VA, David Matranga, known for his roles as Bertholdt in AOT, Shoto in MHA, Usui, Takumi Usui in Maid Sama!, etc is playing the hero in the English dub.

2. Dotta Luzlas

Every hero needs a companion by his side, and Dotta Luzlas, the small-time thief, stays by the side of Xylo in Sentenced to Be a Hero. He was in the Punishment Hero squad, mainly for his theft charges, having committed over a thousand thefts according to his character description. Dotta can’t stay put without stealing anything, and that is exactly how he stole Teoritta’s coffin, which led to their lives getting entangled with the Goddess.

Shun Horie, who recently got the limelight playing Kyotaro Ichikawa in Dangers in My Heart, and Kazuya Kinoshita in Rent a Girlfriend, is portraying the role of Dotta Luzlas in the original sub version. Meanwhile, Joshua Waters, who plays Klein in Lord of Mysteries, Miyano in Sasaki and Miyano, etc has joined the English dub cast to play Dotta.

3. Goddess Teoritta

Sentenced to Be a Hero features Teoritta, a must-protect-at-all-costs character who is a goddess in the series. She has instantly won the fans’ hearts with her adorable personality and deserves all the head pats and praises from Xylo. After being accidentally awakened, she has made Xylo her knight and made a contract with him. We can’t wait to see more of her adventures with Xylo and Dotta from now on.

Mayu Iizuka is having a breakthrough as Teoritta. She has played Airi Eniwa in Cue! and Mizuki Nishimura in And You Thought There Is Never a Girl Online? before. In the English dub of Sentenced to Be a Hero, the popular VA Emi Lo, who is the voice behind Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries, Lucy in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Han Song-Yi in Solo Leveling, and many more roles, is lending her iconic voice to Goddess Teoritta in Sentenced to Be a Hero.

4. Venetim Leopool

Venetim Leopool appeared only for a few minutes in the premiere episode of Sentenced to Be a Hero. This conman will serve as a major ally of Xylo. He has been listed in the Punishment Hero squad for his fraudulent activities and inciting a civil war. As you can see, Venetim has a silver tongue, and now he is utilizing it to help his friend, Xylo.

You might remember Shunichi Toki as Kazutora Hanemiya in Tokyo Revengers, Aoi Akane in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and a few other roles. Now, Toki is performing the Japanese voice for Venetim Leopool, while Jessie James Grelle is handling the English dub voice. Jessie is previously known for his roles as Armin in AOT, Kinro in Dr. Stone, Ristuka in Given, etc.

5. Patausche Kivia

Patausche Kivia made a strong impression on everyone’s mind with her heroism and sense of justice during her debut. She currently leads the 13th Holy Knights division and was ready to sacrifice her life to protect her kingdom and the goddess. Thankfully, Xylo saved the day with the help of Teoritta by overcoming the Demon Lord.

Shizuka Ishigami is better known for iconic roles as Thorfinn in Vinland Saga, William James Moriarty in Moriarty the Patriot, and Bruno Bucciarati in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Now she is serving as the voice of Patausche Kivia. Dawn M. Bennett, who has lent her voice to Saki in Bunny Girl Senpai, Askeladd in Vinland Saga, Juvia Lockser in Fairy Tail, etc., is extending her voice to Kivia in the English dub.

6. Rhyno

Rhyno is yet to make his official debut in the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime at the time of writing, but he is one of the main characters to look out for. Almost all of the Punishing Hero squad members have been brought in to do the traumatizing work for their crimes. However, Rhyno is a rare case where he volunteered and joined the hero work. There is more to him than meets the eye, and a legendary VA is bringing him to life.

Yuichi Nakamura, the brilliant voice behind Gojo Satoru in JJK, Hotaru Oreki in Hyoka, Tomoya Okazaki in Clannad, and many more popular roles, has joined the Sentenced to Be a Hero cast to play the mysterious and optimistic Rhyno.

7. Norgalle Senridge

One look at this character and you can tell that Norgalle Senridge gives off major majestic and royal vibes. However, he is far from taking the throne, as he once tried to usurp the current royal family of the UK and was arrested. That brought him straight to the Punishment Hero squad. He is stated to have a heart for his people, although he may seem high-and-mighty. So, get ready to see more of his majesty in the upcoming episodes.

Yoji Ueda has been cast as Norgalle Senridge in Sentenced to Be a Hero. His previous roles include Robert E. O. Speedwagon in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Eisen in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and more.

8. Tatsuya

Remember when Xylo told Dotta about how the effects of getting resurrected back-to-back would result in losing one’s mind and identity? Tatsuya is the living example of this sad case. He is mentioned to be the oldest member of the Punishing Hero squad. As a result of being brought back to life countless times, Tatsuya doesn’t know about his identity and cannot even think on his own. So, we hope to uncover Tatsuya’s intriguing past sometime in the future.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka has played fan-favorite characters such as Kazuto Kirigaya in SOA, Soma Yukihara in Food Wars, and Vash in Trigun Stampede. Now the voice actor has taken on the challenging role of Tatsuya in the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime.

9. Tsav

Tsav is also one of the newest additions to the cast of the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime. He has an interesting origin story where he is said to have been brought up in a cult of assassins. Tsav is a supernatural sniper, and we will find out more about his abilities soon in the anime.

Jun Fukushima, who played the lead roles, Kazuma Sato in Konosuba and Shokichi Naruko in Yowamushi Pedal: Limit Break, is performing as Tsav in the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime.

10. Jayce Partiract

In case you didn’t know, dragons are canon in the Sentenced to Be a Hero series, and Jayce Partiract has a strong relationship with them. Jayce is a dragon rider and is a respected figure in the eyes of all the dragons. Thus, he has been put in charge of handling the air force of the Punishing Hero Squad. In the end, one can say Jayce prefers his dragons over humans any day.

Shoya Chiba, who is famous for his roles as Kiyotaka Ayanokouji in Classroom of the Elite and Shinei Nouzen in 86, is voicing the role of Jace Partiract in the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime.

11. Neely

As I mentioned earlier when talking about Jayce, there are dragons in the Sentenced to Be a Hero anime, and the one dragon we will be following the most is Neely. Neely is a blue dragon who is Jayce’s companion on the battlefield.

Yoko Hikasa is flying high as Neely the Dragon in the anime Sentenced to Be a Hero. Before this role, she was known for her prominent roles such as Rias Gremory in Highschool DxD, Mio Akiyama in K-On, and Kyouko Kirigiri in Danganronpa.

12. Frenci Mastibolt

Frenci Mastibolt is the ex-fiancée fo Xylo Forbartz. When Xylo was wrongfully framed and sentenced to become a Punishing Hero, their dreams of being together were shattered. Despite their engagement being cancelled, Frenci still wants to live her life with Xylo Forbartz no matter what.

Saori Oonishi, the voice actress known for her roles such as Suzune Horikita in Classroom of the Elite, Miyako Shikimori in Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie, and Ais Wallenstein in Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? is giving her voice to Frenci.
