Why Is #RIPCartoonNetwork Trending
A Twitter page with the name “Animation Works Ignited” recently posted an animation video with #RIPCartoonNetwork saying “Cartoon Network is essentially dead”. The post also laid out a bold claim stating that “Other animation studios are not far behind”. The post mainly talked about the massive layoffs taking place in the animation industry.
The video talked about how a huge chunk of animators are currently unemployed. It pointed out that when Covid took the world in its lethal grasp, the animation industry was the only entertainment industry that was functional since animators could work from their homes. However, even after these animators took charge of keeping people entertained in such crucial times, the companies they worked for, mainly Cartoon Network, paid them back by taking away their jobs and canceling projects.
The video continued by informing people how the CEOs of these companies show better finances by being unjust to their employees to fill their own pockets. It urged people to start a campaign with the hashtag “#RIPCartoonNetwork” and raise their voices against how the animators are being treated by talking about their favorite shows that are not on air anymore with the given hashtag.
