Resident Evil Requiem is breaking all records created by the franchise, and for good reason. The game is filled with secrets and easter eggs that longtime fans of the franchise greatly appreciate. Many of the secrets and easter eggs are easy to find, but some are hidden, and these are generally the best ones. Here we have found 12 Resident Evil Requiem secrets and easter eggs you probably missed, so check it out now!
Like Mother, Like Daughter Trophy
There is a small easter egg with a Resident Evil Requiem trophy, ‘Like Mother, Like Daughter.’ You get this trophy after picking a lock with Grace in the game. This trophy is a easter egg towards Grace’s mother’s lock-picking skills from back in Resident Evil Outbreak. Alyssa Ashcroft, or Grace’s other, was previously one of the protagonists of an old Resident Evil game named Outbreak. She was an expert at picking locks, which is where the reference ‘Like Mother, Like Daughter’ comes from in Resident Evil Requiem.
Enemies and Loot Don’t Respawn
Although this is not a Resident Evil 9 easter egg, learning this little secret can dramatically change how you play the campaign. Requiem features both Leon and Grace as protagonists, switching between them at different time sections of the campaign. Much of the area overlaps for both their playable parts. Now, the interesting part is that the enemies and loot remain the same for each area, whether you play as Leon or Grace.
This means that if you grab a heal as Grace from an area, then Leon won’t find it in the same place, and vice versa. So, make sure to keep loot for your other half as well.
Otherwise, it can make Grace’s or Leon’s playthrough a lot more difficult than it has to be. Similarly, Resident Evil Requiem bosses and enemies you defeat in an area don’t respawn after you defeat them. This means you can also clear an area and make it basically a safe place for the other half.
The Sentient Lump of Tofu
Yes, the infamous Tofu is back in Resident Evil Requiem as an easter egg. Players can visit the Raccoon City police department and find the sentient Tofu peeking at you from behind a pillar. The Tofu wears a police department hat, and shooting at it removes chunks from its body, which is pretty cool. For those unfamiliar with Survivor Tofu, the meme monster first appeared in Resident Evil 2 as an easter egg, right in the Raccoon City Police Department.
Players could play as Tofu in a short minigame that parodied The Fourth Survivor. Ever since then, the Tofu has appeared as an easter egg in multiple Resident Evil titles, and Requiem is the latest game where it makes its appearance.
Play Roulette in Requiem
There is a Roulette table in the Parlour area of Resident Evil Requiem. Spinning the Roulette will always make the ball land on three numbers — 7, 15, and 29. The Resident Evil 9 easter egg here is that you can shoot the ’29’ number on the table and then spin the Roulette to win a prize. The prize you win is an Antique Coin, which can be used to get permanent upgrades for Grace.
Most Zombies Don’t Notice the Flashlight
Resident Evil 9 allows players to toggle their flashlight on or off, something that was missing in many of the older games. The flashlight is very important for navigating in dark spaces. Now, a common misconception is that the flashlight can draw the aggro of the zombies. That is mostly false, as most of the zombies seem to be unaware of the Flashlight.
However, the mother monster that haunts Grace in the game is actually aware of the flashlight, so make sure to turn it off when around her.
Disable First Person Dot Sight Perspective
The Laser dot is one of the major upgrades for your Resident Evil Requiem weapons. It makes your guns much more stable and increases the precision of the aim. However, when playing in third-person view, using the laser dot sight actually shifts the perspective from third-person to first-person every time you aim with the gun. This makes it very annoying to use.
Thankfully, there is a setting that allows you to stop this change in perspective. Go to Controls settings and disable the Dot Sight Perspective to stop the perspective change every time you aim with the laser dot sight.
The Robert Kendo Flashback
Longtime Resident Evil fans will remember Robert Kendo of the Gunshop Kendo in Raccoon City. He first appeared in Resident Evil 2 as an obnoxious gun owner who died after a zombie attack. He was a friend of S.T.A.R.S. member Barry Burton, and he used to create custom guns for Barry and the other S.T.A.R.S. members.
The Resident Evil 2 remake fleshed out his story further by adding his daughter, who was infected. Instead of running or getting rid of his daughter, Robert Kendo decided to stay with her and perish together. The Kendo Gunshop is also present in Resident Evil Requiem, and entering the place makes Leon have a flashback of Robert Kendo’s last moments.
Leon’s License Plate
Leon’s car in Resident Evil 9 got its own trailer, even collaborating with Porsche as a marketing technique. Although the car is barely used in the game, it does come with a sweet Resident Evil Requiem easter egg. The license plate of Leon’s car reveals the number — ND = 9642.
On first glance, this number doesn’t look significant at all. However, long-time Resident Evil fans will quickly notice a pattern that new players won’t. The number player actually mentions the Resident Evil mainline titles where Leon has appeared — Resident Evil 2, 4, 6, and 9.
Rebecca’s Briefcase
In the Stars office in the Raccoon City Police Department, you will find a locked briefcase. The password to open this briefcase is ‘RRR,’ which is short for Rising Rookie Rebecca. Long-time Resident Evil fans will remember Rebecca Chambers, who is one of the original protagonists of the franchise, first appearing in the original Resident Evil game. She has appeared in multiple Resident Evil side games since then and is an integral character to the game’s lore.
Opening the briefcase will give you the Power Shades Charm, which increases the bullet penetration and the damage of the last bullet in the cylinder. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to wear the shades in the game.
Barry’s To-Do List
Another small Resident Evil requiem easter egg can be found in the Raccoon City police department. Although this place holds a ton of references, the one I am talking about is Barry’s To-Do list. Barry Burton was one of the main characters introduced in the first Resident Evil game, and he was also part of the Raccoon City Police Department.
The To-do list specifies how Barry was preparing for Leon’s arrival, preparing his training plan. Other than that, it also mentions joining Jill Valentine at the shooting range, picking up her girl from the Soccer practice, and finding a missing library book. The To-do list is a cute little easter egg for all Resident Evil fans who miss Barry as a character.
Chris Redfield’s ‘Made in Heaven’ Jacket
The Raccoon City Police Department area also holds Chris Redfield’s ‘Made in Heaven’ jacket, which was one unlockable costumes for Chris in the original games. You can find this jacket in a corner, all dusty and moldy. This jacket is not an obtainable item in Resident Evil Requiem, and you can only take a look at it as a small easter egg.
The Final Puzzle
Resident Evil Requiem challenges allow players to do something other than play the main campaign. Most of the challenges are pretty simple, excluding the last one, whose solution has thus far evaded the Resident Evil community. This challenge is named ‘The Final Puzzle’ and costs around 20,000 CP. The puzzle involves the Sun, Moon, and Star machine, where solving it with a specific code will make the players hear laughter. Now, this is only one part of the puzzle, and getting the code itself for this is very tricky.
Players have to first get a blood sample of the severed hand of the Mother monster. Doing this will give an RNA with a specific code — GGC, AAG, AUA, ACG, UGU, and CAU, with an ominous message ‘Let’s Play’. Then, players have to find these individual letters on the Blood sampling machine and an hourglass, which will have a number associated with it. The number is basically the distance between the Moon and the Sun from the Earth, which is how you will learn which letter means what symbol for the code. Then, they will have to kick a toy’s head through a hoop to find another toy that will tell them to ‘ignore all A’.
Long story short, the final code will end up as the following code:
- Sun, Sun, Star
- Sun, Moon, Star
- Sun, Moon, Sun
- Moon, Star, Moon
Inputting this in the Sun, Moon, Start machine will cause the laughter. But what this laughter means and how to complete the rest of the puzzle is still a mystery at the point of writing this article. If you were able to solve it, do let us know in the comments below.
