Capcom’s upcoming high-flying action adventure in the Onimusha series is finally returning. The game series follows the story of legendary Japanese swordmasters, and this time it follows Miyamoto Musashi, but in a slightly twisted environment. When Does Onimusha Way of the Sword Come Out?
Onimusha Way of the Sword will be released in 2026. Capcom hasn’t announced an official release date yet, but with Pragmata releasing soon, we can expect Onimusha to release in the second half of this year at the earliest. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Onimusha will follow the story of Musashi, the original protagonist of the Onimusha series. Musashi can wield the power of the Oni (demon), and you will have to use these abilities, paired with exhilarating swordplay, to defeat enemies. The game will take place in a twisted early Edo period of Kyoto, Japan, similar to Ghost of Yotei.
Onimusha Way of the Sword Gameplay Details
Although Onimusha Way of the Sword is a sequel to the original Onimusha series, the game’s story has no connection with each other. This allows new players to directly jump into Way of the Sword without experiencing the first Onimusha game. However, that doesn’t mean that the game won’t have references, so old veterans would still get to enjoy many easter eggs. Except Jin Sakai appearing in the game from Ghost of Tsushima, of course!
When it comes to gameplay, Onimusha Way of the Sword is a purely action-driven game where players have to cut through hordes of enemies. The game’s combat is its main attraction, with intense swordplay as the main focus. We have also seen massive monsters as enemies, so expect to have some amazing boss fights.
