One Piece: The Holy Knights’ Weakness Explained

The God’s Knights, also known as the Holy Knights, are the newest threats introduced in the final saga of One Piece. Ever since this group’s debut, they seem impossible to defeat as they possess the ability to regenerate. In fact, the regeneration ability isn’t just an exclusive power-up to the Holy Knights, but all the final adversaries wield this immortal power. So, what’s the solution to counter the God’s Knights’ regeneration? Oda has carefully exposed the Holy Knights’ weaknesses throughout the Elbaf arc, and here is how one can overcome their immortality.

The Holy Knights Aren’t Truly Immortal As We Think

During the beginning of the Elbaf arc, the Holy Knights seemed to be an unbeatable group of foes until Scopper Gaban stepped up and showed us how to deal damage against them. Unfortunately, Ya-san was knocked out by Gunko as the former had to give up to save the life of his son, Colon. Gaban, in his injured state, advised Luffy to be careful with utilizing his Conqueror’s Haki. So, the first clue to overcoming the God’s Knights was to be aware of the way you should use your Conqueror’s Haki against them.

Gaban was certain that the Holy Knights aren’t truly immortal as they appear to be, and we finally got to understand why he was so sure in the recent One Piece chapter. Currently, young Shanks and Scopper Gaban were fighting against King Harald in Loki‘s flashback. In chapter 1170, Gaban outright confirmed that the Holy Knights’ major weakness is the Conqueror’s Haki-infused attacks. Yes! Conqueror’s Haki users capable of pulling off the advanced technique infusion are nightmares to the Holy Knights.

So, if one can continuously infuse their attacks with Conqueror’s Haki and land the hits against the Holy Knights with regeneration, they can successfully knock them out even if it seems impossible. When questioned about how Gaban learned their main weakness, the left hand of the pirate king revealed a shocking truth. The Roger Pirates used to beat the Holy Knights to a pulp back then whenever the Holy Knights reached out to them to handover Shanks, as he looked like their captain’s kid. So, Gaban confirmed the weakness of God’s Knights based on his years of experience in vanquishing them.

The Key to Defeating Holy Knights With Conqueror’s Haki

Though Gaban knew the answer to defeating a Holy Knight, he couldn’t do so against King Harald. It’s because King Harald was also a Conqueror’s Haki user, just like Gaban. In his previous battles against the God’s Knights, Gaban must have always battled against members who didn’t possess the color of the supreme king. Now, when he finally faced one, his strategy didn’t continue to work against a Conqueror’s Haki user.

Though Gaban didn’t find a workaround to defeat King Harald, we already know the answer from Roger and Garp’s combined battle against Rocks D. Xebec during the God Valley incident. When Rocks was transformed into one of Imu‘s puppets using the Domi Reversi, his strength increased signifcantly comparable to a Holy Knight who made a pact with Imu. At first, it seemed like no one could defeat the demon Rocks as he was using Conqueror’s Haki in defense to shield all the incoming Conqueror’s Haki-infused attacks.

However, Roger and Garp gave their all by increasing the critical mass of Conqueror’s Haki for one attack and successfully defeated Rocks. In the current scenario in the manga, Loki unleashed his Conqueror’s Haki, seemingly infused it with his new hammer, Ragnir, to kill his father for once and for all, as he was regenerating from all the attacks.

In a nutshell, the answer is always going to be Conqueror’s Haki, but the key to defeating Holy Knights is unleashing the advanced forms of the Color of the Supreme King. So, all the Conqueror’s Haki users must master this rare power in order to fight against the top brass of the World Government. Oda has already revealed the solution, and let’s see if any character, mainly Luffy, can come up with something new with Conqueror’s Haki to defeat the endgame enemies of One Piece.

That said, what do you think about the repeated solution of using Conqueror’s Haki to overcome a much stronger foe? I found it a bit underwhelming as I was hoping for a new power-up. But let us know your thoughts about it in the comments below.
