One Piece Chapter 1164: Rocks D. Xebec’s Last Moments Were Far More Tragic than We Ever Imagined

When Sengoku mentioned Rocks D. Xebec in the Wano Country arc, he was introduced as the great evil who was thwarted by Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp together. He was the captain of the infamous Rocks Pirates, and so everyone assumed the worst of him. Years later, we finally got to meet the man ourselves in Loki’s extended flashback, and we were surprised to see that he was not the person everyone told us in the past. Rocks swiftly became one of the fan-favorite characters with his charisma. Rocks not being in the present time already gave us the confirmation that he has been long dead.

But fans were not ready to see the death of Rocks D. Xebec, who is literally the best character in this flashback right now. But as we near the end of the God Valley incident, Rocks’ death is inevitable and is playing out far more tragically than we ever expected it to be.

Despite his attempts to resist Imu taking control of him, Rocks D. Xebec was unfortunately Domi Reversi’d by Imu in the end. Rocks immediately grew bigger in size and strength. In his new demonic appearance, he had fangs and wings similar to the demonic giants in Elbaf. Imu commanded him to exterminate the remaining Davy Clan members, including his wife Eris and son Teach.

Rocks eventually found his kin on the run, and was ready to put an end to their lives. But thankfully, Bartholomew Kuma, who was nearby, spotted them and used the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi powers to send them to a safe haven. Even though Rocks lost control of his body, he clearly knew what was happening around him, especially when attempting to kill his own family.

Then, when Imu once again ordered him to kill everybody remaining on this island, Roger and Garp shouted Rock’s name to settle this with a fight. The duo quickly recognized something was off about the man. Roger was ready to clash with Rocks as he didn’t want him to go after his crew. Garp was also on the same note, gearing up to fight a man whom he no longer recognized.

Just as their battle was about to begin, both Roger and Garp were perplexed by a voice that only they could hear. Rocks D. Xebec was able to talk with them using the Voice of All Things. With tears running down his face, Xebec pleaded to Roger and Garp to kill him in a heartbreaking tone to put an end to his misery.

Rocks was an ambitious man, but he abandoned his goals to save his family. But who would have thought he would be the one forced to kill his wife and son? Though they escaped (thanks to Kuma), Rocks knew that as long as he was alive, he would be a threat to his family as Imu took control over his body. So, the only choice left for him was to end his life to save his beloved family.

There Is More to Come in the Upcoming One Piece Chapters

Roger and Garp surely heard his plea as they were seen in a confused state upon hearing his request. I was also one of the fans who ended up stanning Rocks D. Xebec within such a short span. I knew his death was not far away. But I certainly didn’t expect to see this legend go down in this way. Rocks, with all his might, was undeniably the strongest of his era.

Yet all this strength meant nothing in the face of Imu as the ruler converted him into a monster, resulting in a tragic end for Rocks. The panel of Rock shedding tears made me tear up, and the worst thing is that this isn’t the end. We have to see Rocks getting taken out in the upcoming chapters, and I’m not ready for that.

Rocks D. Xebec’s death is one of the saddest endings to a character in the history of the One Piece series. That said, what do you think about the death of Rocks? Let us know in the comments below.
