We all know the story of how Ginny leaked the information about the Native Hunting Competition and its prizes. Then, Ivankov and Kuma set out and obtained the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi devil fruit, which Kuma ate during this incident to get its powers. Kuma’s paws became the Hands of Liberation, with which he saved hundreds of people’s lives who were hunted as slaves on this island. Well, there was one family Kuma saved on the God Valley island, which we didn’t know before.

Unfortunately, Rocks was Domi Reversi’d by Imu in the previous chapter and ordered to murder his family. Although Rocks tried to resist, he transformed into a monster and hunted his wife and son on God Valley Island. He found Eris and Kid Blackbeard on the run and lifted his sword to end their lives in a strike. On top of it, the Marines also fired cannons at them as they tried to escape.

Thankfully, Kuma was still on the island as he wanted to save as many lives as he could. As he noticed Eris and her kid running for their lives, he followed them and arrived at the right time to use his Paw Paw devil fruit powers to teleport them to a faraway place. Without a second thought, Kuma rushed in to save Eris and Blackbeard without knowing anything about them. We don’t know if it was destiny or a mere coincidence for sure. But if you look at it philosophically, Kuma was an angel who saved the lives of the two most important heirs of this era.

Of course, we cannot erase the memory of the time when Kuma sent the Straw Hats away on the Sabaody Archipelago arc. It may have seemed wrong at that time, but it was done in the best interest of Luffy and his crew. It was a traumatic event in Luffy’s life, but Luffy’s life was saved that day, as we saw during Kuma’s flashback in Egghead. That day, Kuma saved the life of Luffy, who would go on to become the Joy Boy of the current era.

Now we have learned that Kuma was the one who saved the life of Blackbeard, who inherited the will of Davy D. Jones. To think that Kuma saved the lives of the vital figures who are bound to shape the future of the One Piece world. Undoubtedly, Kuma is the kindest character in the series, and we wouldn’t be surprised if we heard that Kuma risked his life to save a life once again.

That said, did you expect that Kuma would go on to save Rocks’ wife and son? Let us know in the comments below.
