Rocks D. Xebec has gone a long way from being the mysterious silhouette figure to one of the greatest characters written by Oda within a short span of time. He has been around for only fifteen chapters, yet he has made the fans admire him to the point that they want him to keep living on. However, we already know the sad fate of Rocks in the God Valley incident, as Sengoku revealed that Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp made a temporary alliance and utterly defeated Rocks. For years, we have been pondering why a pirate and a marine teamed up to defeat Rocks. We finally have our answers in One Piece chapter 1163, where Oda reveals the truth about Rocks D. Xebec’s doomed fate caused by Imu.

Imu Vs. Rocks D. Xebec Begins
To everyone’s surprise, Imu descended to the God Valley by taking control of St. Saturn‘s monster form. The previous chapter confirmed that a battle between Rocks and the mysterious Imu was inevitable. As expected, Imu’s clash to take down Rocks began in this chapter. Imu came down from the Holy Land, as they believed Rocks D. Xebec to be Davy Jones, whom they had been looking for.
Xebec talked about a certain promise made by Davy, and he meant to keep his word, but that was also the main reason Imu chose to erase the Davy clan from existence. Then they began to clash; however, no matter how Rocks slashed Imu, they began to regenerate quickly. Even all the legends, Roger, Garp, Whitebeard, Kaido, and Big Mom, teamed up with Xebec to land a combined attack against Imu, but Imu came out unscathed by regenerating from such a life-ending attack.
During this chaotic showdown, Imu suddenly changed the topic to Xebec’s wife and kid, who were escaping from the island, to save their lives. Imu stated that they couldn’t be allowed to escape, and their lives must end here. Rocks, who had the sole goal to save his wife and son, obviously lost his mind when Imu mentioned their lives. Then the supreme ruler took advantage of this situation by pulling off a checkmate move against Rocks.
Rocks Gets Domi Reversi’d By Imu
Imu wanted both Rock’s wife, Eris, and their son, Blackbeard, dead. But Imu wasn’t going to kill them by themself. Thus, Imu used the tendrils from their body to stab Rocks’ body, then ordered him to go and kill his wife and son. Same as the readers, Rocks was confused by Imu’s nonsense speech as to why he would murder his own kin.
That’s when Imu shockingly pulled off their “Domi Reversi” move and transformed Rocks into one of their demonic soldiers. It should be noted that Imu didn’t use any magic circle to turn Rocks into a demon, like they did the giants (including Dorry and Brogy) in the current timeline.
We are also not aware of the criteria for the Domi Reversi ability at the moment. However, fans speculate that it has something to do with a persona’s fear/anxiety, similar to how Big Mom stole the life span of people afraid of her using her Soru Soru no Mi. Nevertheless, the bottom line is that Rocks has been turned into a demon like his father and grandmother by Imu.
Worst of all, he has been commanded to kill his wife and son, whom he had been dying to protect all this time. That’s the tragic fate of the best pirate we have ever met. Now, all the legends, unfortunately, have to fight against the demon Rocks to prevent him from committing the murders.
Everyone except Roger and Garp likely gets struck by Rocks next. In the end, Roger and Garp team up to defeat demonic Rocks, as it was told by Sengoku years ago. Since Blackbeard is present in the current times, he somehow makes it out alive. This now indirectly hints that Eris D. Teach won’t be making it out alive and potentially could be killed by her partner in the upcoming chapters.
