The God Valley incident was first mentioned in the Wano Country arc during the introduction of Rocks and his crew to the world. The mention of the incident was more than enough to get the fans excited to watch this event unfold in the story. Since then, we have been taking trips to the God Valley island, previously during Kuma’s flashback and now during Loki’s backstory. One Piece chapter 1157 has dropped a vital clue that shifts our perspective on the stolen treasure that sparked the war between the Roger Pirates, Rocks Pirates, Marines, and the Holy Knights in God Valley.

Shakky Retires and Moves to Hachinosu Island

Shakuyaku, the first mate of Gloriosa, replaced her chief as the new Pirate captain of the Kuja Pirates and the Pirate Empress of Amazon Lily. A few years later, Shakky dropped anchors on her pirate career and empress life. To escape the wrath of the Marines who were chasing after her, Shakky decided to utilize the power of her beauty. Thus, she asked Tritoma to drop her off in Hachinosu, the Pirate Island. Living among pirates who would give their lives for her was a smart move from Shakky.
The narrator stated that Shakky’s arrival on Hachinosu is undoubtedly the greatest incident to have ever happened in this hive island. Remember the Shakky’s Rip-Off Bar we went to in the Sabaody Archipelago arc? It is now revealed that Shakky built her first bar in Hachinosu before she opened one in Sabaody. Moreover, it should be noted that Shakky decided to stay on the pirate island for a while until the heat from the Marines drops and not join the Rocks Pirates.
Shakky Gets Kidnapped and It Sparks the God Valley Incident

First, the Roger Pirates (except Rayleigh) were head over heels for Shakky, and the Rocks Pirates are no exception. No one expected the legendary Rocks and his crew to swoon all over Shakky upon her arrival on the pirate island. In the eyes of these pirates, Shakky gleamed brighter all the chest full of treasures on that island. Hence, Shakky became the irreplaceable crown jewel of Hachinosu Island to the pirates.
Now, if you go all the way back to Kuma’s flashback, a young Monkey D. Garp mentioned that the Rocks Pirates arrived in God Valley to get back their “crown jewel.” Now, when you put one and one together, the truth becomes clear. It was not a treasure chest or any powerful Devil Fruit that was stolen from Hachinosu by the World Government. One Piece chapter 1157 confirms that Shakky was kidnapped from the pirate island, as the narrator teases that a precious treasure is always a target of theft.
Looking back at the panels of Roger Pirates and Rocks Pirates arriving in God Valley, it becomes clear that the treasure that they were talking about earlier is none other than Shakky. Now we can understand why Roger said, “Do you have any idea how I’ve felt all this time?” as the pirate king was spellbound by Shakky’s beauty in the past.
Now, if you are wondering how Shakky gets abducted, new theories suggest that there is a traitor among the Rocks Pirates who is none other than Silver Axe, aka Kyo. We have covered this theory separately, and you can find it via the linked article. Shakky would go on to be the main reason behind the war at God Valley.
One Piece fans also brought up that Helen of Troy’s story is the inspiration for Shakky’s role. Similar to Helen, Shakky is revealed to be a supreme beauty, and now her kidnapping has triggered the God Valley incident, mirroring the Trojan War in Greek mythology. That said, what do you think about Shakky’s significance increasing with every new chapter? Let us know in the comments below.
