Best Birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered lets you flesh out your build post the character creation screen through birthsigns. Given to you by the Emperor, these celestial blessings carry the constellation your character was born under and offer unique bonuses. These bonuses can range from special powers, such as invisibility, to stat boosts that complement a playstyle. Since you’ll encounter this choice early on in the game, we’ve picked the best birthsigns in the Oblivion Remastered to make your decision easier.

Best Birthsigns in Oblivion Remastered

As we mentioned earlier, the birthsigns let you add an extra layer to your character, which is why their bonuses should align with the build you’re aiming for. With 13 different options available, there’s a birth sign fit for every playstyle. However, the ones we’ve picked out below are among the best in Oblivion Remastered. These are:

The Atronach

Right out of the gate, if you’re planning a spellcaster build of any kind, the Atronach is the best birthsign available. It increases your Magicka by 150 points, which is far greater than any other boost you can gather in the game. On top of this, it offers a 50% chance of absorbing incoming spells, turning them into Magicka instead, and bolstering your defense.

Its only disadvantage is the Stunted Magicka Regeneration, which will undoubtedly be annoying in the early game. But if you can make the compromise, the Atronach will remain an integral part of your build long after the story’s ending credits have rolled.

The Warrior

The Warrior, as the name suggests, is best-suited for players who enjoy wielding swords and axes. Its permanent effects include a +10 increase to Endurance and a +10 boost to Strength. For starters, the Endurance upgrade will improve your fatigue levels and make it easier to increase your health pool. On top of this, the Strength boost increases your proficiency with melee weapons, hence improving your capabilities in combat.

The Thief

The Thief immediately bumps up three Attributes in Agility, Luck, and Speed, making it the best choice for short-term gains. The boost to Luck is convenient since the Attribute is notoriously difficult to improve once you exit the sewers.

Naturally, these upgrades reinforce a stealth-based playstyle that’s all about picking pockets and skulking around. However, you can also use the Speed and Agility buffs to offset a tankier build.

The Lady

The Lady is similar to the Warrior in nature, as it offers the same +10 increase to Endurance. With that being said, the rest of its bonuses go into Willpower instead of Strength, making this birthsign ideal for a magic-hybrid build or even a Spellsword. Of course, it also gels seamlessly with a pure mage build, although you’re better off opting for the aptly named Mage birthsign in that case.
