As per recent rumors, the Nintendo Switch 2 might be in the hands of developers already. A prominent leaker revealed that his sources are even under NDA with the company. So, after waiting for a new handheld console for years, Nintendo fans, things are finally getting hot. We now have information on the leaked specifications of the Nintendo Switch 2. So, let’s discuss what the leak reveals about the potential CPU & GPU that could power the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Reportedly Demoed with Nvidia GPU

The new leak comes from X user Nerolipe, and it talks about some key details that are pointing toward an Nvidia GPU to be used for the Switch 2. We know from a previous leak that the company had previewed the Switch 2 handheld to developers at Gamescom 2023, behind closed doors. In that leak, the graphics quality was noted to be ‘similar’ to modern consoles like the PS5.

Nerolipe, who is a Nintendo journalist, mentions that his sources saw the tech demo of Nintendo’s upcoming handheld at Gamescom 2023, and it used DLLS 3.1 technology. The leak also added that ray-tracing might also be possible on the Switch 2, with the RAM for this Nvidia GPU being 12GB. It wasn’t stated if this is GDDR6 equivalent, or something else.

Having the power to insert artificially generated frames powered by Nvidia’s DLSS 3 seriously levels up the potential of how impressive the graphics could be in future Nintendo games that play on their upcoming Switch 2 console. It would be amazing to have the handheld with this kind of upgraded specs.

This is an exciting development, and if it holds true, the new handheld’s GPU would be powered by Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace architecture. Nintendo Switch 2 Could Feature MediaTek CPU Together With Nvidia GPU

Another Nintendo Switch 2 leak coming from YouTube creator RedGamingTech reveals additional details related to the CPU used on the upcoming console. The leaker’s source claims the specs include a MediaTek CPU with the following specifications:

  • 2x Cortex X4
  • 2x Cortex A720
  • 4x Cortex A520

From the leak we discussed above, we know that the Nvidia Ada Lovelace-based GPU could bring 12GB of graphics memory. This leak by RedGamingTech reveals some additional details about the GPU. His source points to Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace architecture being used for the graphics, and that early testing of the handheld was done on a Tegra T239. The graphics could have 12 to 16 SMs, which would be Ada-Lovelace-based streaming multiprocessors.

Do note that these leaks have been classed as low-confidence. Given that these are the initial Nintendo Switch 2 leaks, we suggest you take it with a grain of salt. The company has not confirmed the existence of a new console yet. So, we do not know when it is coming, plus there could be a long time before we get proper details related to the upcoming handheld.
