Right from the beginning season of the One Piece live-action series, the production team never failed to include easter eggs from the future arcs or straight from author Oda’s interviews (SBS). As a longtime One Piece fan, I was looking forward to what the new second season has in store for us, and it is jam-packed with easter eggs. So, we have unpacked all the new easter eggs and cool details we have spotted so far in Netflix’s live-action One Piece Season 2 here.
Spoilers Warning:
This article contains spoilers about the story elements of One Piece. Read at your own discretion if you wish to learn more details about the hidden easter eggs in live-action One Piece Season 2.
Manymayer and Figarland Family Mentioned

The Manmayer and Figarland are one of the important families among the Celestial Dragons. The newly introduced God’s Knight members in the manga are Gunko, who hails from the Manmayer family, and Shamrock, who comes from the Figarland family. In case you didn’t know, Shanks is also a member of the Figarland family, making it one of the strongest families in the One Piece world.
Now, both the Manmayer’s and Figarland’s properties in the Logue Town are teased in episode 1 of the live-action One Piece Season 2. Manmayer has a big building at the center, and Figarland runs a wine shop in Logue Town. The Celestial Dragons hate all the people living below the Mary Geoise, but sure love to collect their money through businesses.
Roger Calls Garp “The Hero of God Valley”

The God Valley incident is the most significant event in One Piece’s history, as it shaped the world we know today. Roger and Garp teamed up to take down the demonic Rocks, but the World Government covered up the truth and just called Garp the Hero of the Marines after the God Valley incident.
Now, live-action One Piece Season 2 provided an insight into Roger’s final moments with his rival and friend, Garp, before he was executed. During their final meeting, Roger calls him the “Hero of the God Valley,” a subtle nod to the historical event that recently unfolded in the One Piece manga.
Sabo’s Secret Cameo

The chances are very low that the One Piece live-action series would be able to adapt the Dressrosa saga in the future. So, the production team decided to sneak in a brilliant background cameo in episode 1. When Dragon stands and watches Luffy escape after saving him, his protege, Sabo, appears in the background.
Sabo is also Luffy and Ace’s sworn brother, who plays a vital role as the new Flame Emperor and the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army. So, it was great to see the live-action version of Sabo, albeit as a background cameo.
Pedro’s Bounty Poster

In line with the first season, the Mink Pedro’s bounty poster makes a round on the walls of the Logue Town in One Piece Season 2. Pedro becomes a temporary member of the Straw Hat Pirates during the Zou and Whole Cake Island arcs. Pedro’s sacrifice will always be remembered in the hearts of One Piece fans, and it’s so nice to see an Easter egg about him in live-action now.
Luffy Mentions Dadan in His Sleep

When Luffy slowly starts to wake up from his sleep after getting knocked out by the giant whale Laboon, he says, “Five more minutes, Dadan.” Longtime One Piece fans know exactly who Dadan is. Curly Dadan is the bandit to whom Garp left Ace and Luffy to raise. While she was annoyed at first, she stepped up to be the mother figure in Ace, Luffy, and even Sabo’s lives.
Thus, it is funny and heartwarming to see Luffy remembering Dadan as he wakes up. We hope we get to meet the live-action version of Dadan someday.
Luffy Recreates the Iconic Nika Dance in Live-Action

The first Nika dance comes from the times when Luffy partied after saving the Skypiean nation from Enel. At that time, we didn’t recognize its importance, and it turned out to be an iconic move as the warrior of liberation, Sun God Nika, performed the same dance. In episode 2 of live-action One Piece Season 2, Luffy performs the Nika Dance as he sings Bink’s Sake song to catch the attention of Laboon.
Brook’s Early Cameo

Brook of the Rumbar Pirates and his connection with Laboon are only revealed in the Thriller Bark Saga of One Piece. However, the production team decided to tease Brook, a future member of the Straw Hat Pirates, by canonically showcasing Laboon’s backstory in the Reverse Mountain arc itself. The live-action team didn’t even mention his name, but longtime One Piece fans can immediately pick up on this cameo.
Martial T. Batchamen plays Brook in One Piece live-action Season 2. Let’s wait and see if we can reach Thriller Bark and meet the skeletal version of Brook in a future season of One Piece live-action.
Usopp Teasing How the Anime Version of Crocus Lives

After getting out of Laboon in episode 2, the Straw Hat Pirates have lunch with the lighthouse keeper and the whale’s caretaker, Crocus. During this time, Usopp mentions that if Crocus ever gets sick of living inside the lighthouse, there is plenty of room inside Laboon to make use of.
This is not just a joke but a clever reference to the source material in which Crocus actually lives inside the giant whale. But to be honest, I was disappointed when I didn’t get to see the legendary comedy sequence of Straw Hats meeting Crocus inside Laboon in live-action.
Multiple Doskoi Panda References

Pandaman and Doskoi Panda are the two popular easter eggs added by Oda in his One Piece manga. A character was seen carrying a Pandaman teddy bear in Logue Town. Sanji was seen wearing a Doskoi Panda apron on the Going Merry ship in episode 3. And the Doskoi Panda logo even appeared in a newspaper. Thus, it feels good to see the live-action team continuing Oda’s tradition.
Statues of Nika and Prince Loki

Loki, the Prince of Elbaf, was introduced as a hilarious silhouette in the One Piece manga. After years, the prince officially debuted in the most recent Elbaf arc. The Elbaf arc is also unraveling the lore of Nika, the Sun God, right now. To everyone’s surprise, Dorry has carved statues of Nika, the silhouette version of Loki, and his friend Brogy in One Piece Season 2.
This was an unexpected move, and the live-action team even made Dorry and Brogy pray to their sun god Nika before they commenced their fight. Therefore, the legend of Nika was told very early in the live-action story as clever easter eggs in One Piece Season 2, unlike its counterparts.
Queen Otohime and Jinbe References

Princess Vivi remembers the time when she was a kid and snuck into the Reverie meeting with the World Leaders, including her father, Nefertari Cobra. In this meeting, the rulers argue about the existence of the Warlords system, and King Wapol brings up the assassination of Queen Otohime on Fishman Island. This tragedy was only revealed to the fans in the Fishman Island arc, but the live-action team brings it up at the right time.
Then Wapol goes on to mention that not even the Fishmen Warlord could save their queen. The Fishmen warlord is none other than Jinbe, whom we meet later in the Summit War saga. So, the live-action team has mentioned two of the most important characters from Fishman Island as easter eggs in episode 6, especially Jinbe, who becomes a member of the Straw Hat Pirates in the future.
Usopp’s Lie Would Soon Become True

When Brogy takes Usopp and Nami back to his cave, Usopp lies to the giant that he wielded a massive hammer in a battle against a mole monster in episode 4. In One Piece, there is a popular trope where Usopp’s lies become a reality. Staying true to this tradition, Usopp would soon face Miss Merry Christmas, a Baroque Works agent who can transform into a mole monster in the Alabasta arc.
In this future battle, Usopp would go on to wield a big hammer just like in his liar’s tale. So, Usopp’s lie is a clever easter egg which becomes reality soon. Usopp’s battle against Miss Merry Christmas would be adapted in the live-action One Piece Season 3. So stay tuned for the exciting battle next season.
Sanji Talks About His Hidden Past

There is only half of Sanji’s past that has been revealed in the One Piece live-action. The complete picture of Sanji’s past is only revealed in the Whole Cake Island arc. During this flashback, young Sanji was physically abused by his father and his siblings as he was seen as a failure. They loathed his love of cooking, but despite all the hate, the kid cooked meals for his sick mother.
When Sanji was nursing Nami back to health by cooking for her, he told the truth about how he cooked poor meals for his sick mother. The live-action team brilliantly found a way to incorporate a part of Sanji’s tragic past as an Easter egg in One Piece Season 2.
That’s all the easter eggs we have managed to find so far in live-action One Piece Season 2. We will update our article once we discover more during our rewatch of the second season. That said, what is your favorite easter egg in Netflix’s One Piece Season 2? Let us know in the comments below.
