This magical flower will not just be a decorative item standing on a pot at your base, but it also brings a unique mechanic to control the age of mobs in the game. So, do you want to make the mobs stay young forever? Then, check this guide to learn how to get the Golden Dandelion in Minecraft and use it in the game.

Materials Required to Make Golden Dandelion in Minecraft

The Golden Dandelions were first introduced in the Minecraft 26.1 Snapshot 5. Making one such flower is very straightforward, and it only requires a handful of ingredients. Here’s what you need to gather before you start with the process:

IngredientsAmountHow to Get
Dandelion1xNaturally generated on grass or dirt blocks all over the world
Gold Nuggets8xCan be made using gold nuggets. Also found in the Nether dimension
Crafting Table1xMade using 4 planks

Dandelions are found all over the Minecraft Overworld and only generate on dirt or grass blocks. You can mostly find them in meadows, plains, savannas, forests, taiga, and jungle biomes.

Moreover, you can get the golden nuggets from gold ingots, and a single ingot can give you 9 such nuggets. For the gold ingots, you have to head to the deepslate layers, especially in the Y range of -64 to 256, or check our Minecraft ore distribution guide for more information. Another way to get these nuggets is by mining in the Nether dimension.

Lastly, you would need a Crafting Table in Minecraft to put them together and make a Golden Dandelion.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Make a Golden Dandelion

Now that you have all the required ingredients, follow the steps below to craft a Golden Dandelion in Minecraft:

  • Place the crafting table on the ground and right-click on it to open its UI.
  • Place the regular dandelion in the central cell.
  • Now fill all the 8 surrounding cells with gold nuggets to complete the recipe.
  • On the right cell, the Golden Dandelion will appear, and you can then drag and drop it into your inventory. Below is the crafting recipe grid for the Golden Dandelion.

An alternative way to get the Golden Dandelions is by trading with the Wandering traders. Once you spot these villager-like mobs wearing a blue robe and a couple of llamas around them, go near and interact with them. The wandering traders can have a small chance of selling a single Golden Dandelion for 2 emeralds.

Golden Dandelion Uses and Mechanics in Minecraft

The Golden Dandelion isn’t just a fancy flower in Minecraft. The main use of this flower is to keep baby mobs young forever. However, the flower can be used in multiple areas in the game, and those are as follows:

Control Baby Mob Growth

One of the prime features of the upcoming Minecraft Tiny Takeover update is using the Golden Dandelions for pausing the growth of baby mobs. Simply hold the flower in your hand, point it at the baby mob, and right-click to feed it.

This locks the age of the baby mob, and if you try feeding a second Golden Dandelion to the same, it will resume the normal growth. The item is consumed with each use and also has a 2-second cooldown.

Decoration

You can place a Golden Dandelion at your base, either on the ground blocks such as grass, dirt, podzol, moss, or even place it on top of a flower pot. It can help create a cozy, aesthetic home when you keep the pot near your window pane.

Suspicious Stew Effect

A Golden Dandelion can also be used to make a suspicious stew in Minecraft. You will need to place a bowl, a red mushroom, a brown mushroom, and a Golden Dandelion flower in four cells of the crafting grid to make the stew.

Another way to get the same stew is by feeding the flower to an adult brown mooshroom and then milking the cow with a bowl. Consuming this suspicious stew will restore an additional 7 hunger points (6 hunger points on Bedrock edition) and 14 saturation points.

Piglin Interaction

Inside the Nether dimension, you can distract the piglins by using the Golden Dandelion. Simply throw it on the ground near the Piglin, and it will stare at the flower for 6 seconds before picking it up. However, do note that the Piglin will not drop anything in exchange for the flower.

Bee Nest Growth Bonus

Finally, if you try placing a sapling within a range of 2-blocks from the Golden Dandelion, then the tree grown from the sapling will have a 5% chance to spawn a bee nest with bees. This turns out to be an easy way of finding bees for your bee farm in Minecraft.

And that completes the entire guide for making a Golden Dandelion in Minecraft. So, are you excited for the upcoming Minecraft Live 2026? Tell us in the comments below.
