Wondering whether your brand new PS5 will have enough content over the next few years? Well, that’s not something you need to concern yourself with, but if you are still wondering about it, we’ve got your back. We have compiled a list of all games exclusive to the PS5 that are available to play right now and those coming out soon. So, if you’re thinking about upgrading from your PS4 to a PS5, here’s an updated list of PlayStation 5 exclusive games.
List of PlayStation 5 Exclusive Games (2021)
There are already several exclusive titles available to play on the PS5, and more will be coming later this year. Check out the list for yourself and get hyped for all the gaming action headed your way.
PS5 Exclusive Games Available Right Now
1. Astro’s Playroom
Astro’s Playroom is the default game that will come pre-loaded on your PS5. It is essentially a playground to showcase all the advanced capabilities of the new DualSense controller. And why shouldn’t it be? The new controller comes with impressive features, especially the adaptive triggers and haptics, a new built-in mic, and more.
The game itself is a decent way to pass the time while you’re waiting for other games to finish downloading.
2. Demon’s Souls (Remake)
The Demon’s Souls remake is also a PS5 exclusive, at least right now. During the announcement of the game, the trailer did mention “Not available on other consoles for a limited time”. However, there’s really no clarity so far on either how long the exclusivity will last, or whether it’s just a mistake (which is what Sony claimed).
As of now, though, the game is only available for PS5 users, so you should check it out.
3. Destruction AllStars
Destruction AllStars immediately grabbed my attention when I first saw the announcement trailer. And after having played it over the last two months, the game actually is a very fun, fast paced, and exciting offering on the console.
The game was made available in February 2021 via PlayStation Plus, and if you like Rocket League, this is in a similar vein, except you don’t need to score goals. Just wreck your opponents. This is one of the PlayStation 5 exclusive games that’s only exclusive for a limited time.
4. Spider-Man: Miles Morales
2018’s Spider Man was one of my favorite games to play on the PS4, and Miles Morales is carrying that story forward in some ways. As the title suggests, the game focuses on the journey of Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man in New York City and while Peter Parker does make an appearance in the beginning of the game, it’s mostly all about Miles’ antics in NYC.
The game features ray-tracing support, so you can enjoy all the amazing graphical fidelity that Insomniac Games has on offer with your PS5. This is definitely a game you should get.
5. The Nioh Collection
If you’ve enjoyed playing Nioh and Nioh 2, the remastered versions of those games are available for the PlayStation 5 as well in the form of The Nioh Collection. This brings 120fps support so you can enjoy taking on the Yokai threat at super smooth frame rates, and thanks to the PS5’s lightning fast SSD, load times will be extremely low as well.
6. Godfall
Godfall was released back in 2020, and it’s an action role playing game where you choose from 5 different weapon classes, and join forces with friends or go alone to prevent a major apocalyptic event. Not having played this game myself, I can’t speak to how good it is, but according to critics, the game received mixed reviews, which is why I’m placing it at the very bottom of this list.
7. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
The first Ratchet and Clank game was a load of fun on the PS4 and Sony announced the new Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart for the PS5 as well. This is one of the PlayStation exclusive games that aren’t here yet, but if you enjoyed playing Ratchet and Clank on your PS4, you are in for a treat with Rift Apart.
Launch Date: June 11, 2021
8. God of War: Ragnarok
There’s also a new addition coming to the God of War. Ragnarok will follow-up the 2018 entry into the God of War franchise, and will likely continue the story of Kratos and his son Atreus into a new era of the game. There’s currently no release date for the game, but it’s expected to be out sometime this year, so hopefully the wait won’t be too long.
Launch Date: 2021
9. Returnal
Do you like procedurally generated worlds and replaying your games? If so, Returnal might be just the game for you. In Returnal, you have crash landed on a shape-shifting alien planet and you must fight for survival. Every time you’re defeated, the game restarts, the world is different, and even the items at your disposal change. Personally, I’m not a big fan of games like this, but if you are, Returnal is something you can look forward to.
Launch Date: 30 April 2021
10. Deathloop
Yet another game that I distinctly remember watching the announcement trailer for, Deathloop is a fresh take on assassination games. In the game you’re locked in a battle with another assassin. It’s not a procedurally generated game, per se, but it requires you to replay your death multiple times in order to figure out how to kill all your targets within the time limit and break out of the loop. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?
Launch Date: May 21, 2021
11. Ghostwire: Tokyo
Do you like paranormal, supernatural games? In Ghostwire Tokyo, the city is overrun by deadly forces and 99% of the population has vanished. You, as the protagonist are responsible for fighting off the threats with the spectral abilities and weapons at your disposal. The game will make use of the PS5’s haptic feedback and 3D spatial audio features. It will also be available on PCs, but it’s a PS5 exclusive on consoles.
Launch Date: October 2021
Upcoming PlayStation 5 Exclusives
12. Gran Tourismo 7
If you’re a fan of racing games, Gran Tourismo 7 should be enough to get you hyped about the new PS5. This upcoming PS5 exclusive title brings in the single-player car collection campaign of earlier titles in the Gran Tourismo franchise. Judging by the trailer, the game looks ridiculously good, and it should be extremely fun to play.
Launch Date: 2022
13. Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Forbidden West is likely the game I’m most hyped about playing. I remember playing Horizon Zero Dawn on my PS4 and loving the game immensely. Forbidden West takes the story forward, brings much better graphics, and will likely make use of all the advancements that the PlayStation 5 has to offer. I’m waiting for this game, and I’d recommend everyone to check it out.
Launch Date: TBC
14. Project Athia
Project Athia may not even be the final name of this PS5 exclusive, but it is the working title that Square Enix is using for the game. We don’t know a lot about this game, and it’s not anywhere close to being launched (not even this year!), but based on the trailer, it does look a pretty nice game that I’d like to check out (Square Enix, if you’re reading this, consider sending us a copy?).
Launch Date: January 2022
Play PlayStation 5 Exclusive Games
While I’m not entirely for exclusive titles on consoles, and I think it’d just be better if all games were available across consoles, Sony does have a pretty solid upper hand when it comes to the number of exclusive titles it gets for the consoles it launches. That in itself is a pretty big reason why the PlayStation 5 is selling much better than the Xbox Series X|S.
So, which PS5 exclusive games are you currently playing (or have played), and which ones are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments. Personally, I can’t wait for Horizon Forbidden West.
