As of now, we’ve only heard Megumi and Yuji mention the name of Higuruma in JJK Season 3. So, it’s normal for anime-only fans to be unaware of this character’s potential. It is mentioned that he is strong, and let me tell you, he is indeed a strong character.

Apparently, Higuruma is a defense attorney in Jujutsu Kaisen who, unlike many lawyers, pursues this profession out of a profound belief in justice. In a world where people ignore the accused and consider them guilty, Higuruma fights for the wrongfully accused. He is often seen taking on extremely difficult cases, and he never fails to protect the innocent. However, things turn ugly when one of his innocent clients is considered guilty by the judge, despite the fact that all the evidence was suggesting otherwise. In that moment of frustration, Higuruma awakens his cursed technique, and on top of that, he murders both the judge and the prosecutor.

After that, Higuruma gets detached from society, and he gives up on law and order. However, the man finds a new purpose with Culling Game. Unlike the law and order crafted by human society, the rules of the Culling Game are not corrupted. Everything is straightforward, and the Culling Game doesn’t delay the punishment. That is why Higuruma becomes a participant in the Culling Game, even though Yuji begs him to help him stop these games.

Yuji and Higuruma want different things, which makes Higuruma fight Yuji. So, even though he’s an honorable man who believes in justice, Higuruma serves as an antagonist in the Culling Game. But fortunately, he doesn’t stay an antagonistic figure in Jujutsu Kaisen. Apparently, at one point, Yuji accepts being guilty of killing several people in Shibuya, even though it wasn’t him who did all that. Well, Yuji feels guilty for the crime he didn’t even commit, and this very emotion makes Higuruma connect with Yuji. So, yes, Higuruma eventually helps Yuji, and without spoiling much, let’s just say that he gives a hard time to Sukuna in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc.

Higuruma is a Grade 1 Sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen

When it comes to power, let’s just say that Higuruma is one of the strongest sorcerers of the modern era. In fact, Higuruma becomes a Grade 1 sorcerer only twelve days after awakening. Apart from having the Reverse Cursed Technique, Higuruma has the ability to summon a Shikigami, which sort of looks like Lady Justice. Higuruma’s domain, Deadly Sentencing, resembles a courtroom, and the Shikigami, known as Judgeman, delivers the verdict while Higuruma carries out the sentence.

The scary part about Higuruma’s courtroom domain is that his opponents are forced to take part in the trial and follow the rules, whether they like it or not. That is why Higuruma gets incredibly close to killing Yuji using his domain, and that’s the very reason why Higuruma leaves a lasting impression on Sukuna.

Honestly, Higuruma is an interesting and incredibly powerful character in JJK, and fans will surely love him when he makes his first apperance in Season 3.
