Maru and Tsurugi Struggle to Get Along in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

As you can see, Maru and Tsurugi have been having trouble getting along well since their meeting. So Maru always feels alienated (pun intended) from his trio. In the latest chapter, the beloved trio of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo embarks on a mission to capture a deadly shark in the countryside of Japan. During their mission, things only get messier as Tsurugi and Maru continue to quarrel about why Maru didn’t use his cursed technique to save the kid back then, their coexistence, and the Simurians’ goal.

Their fight has to take a back seat as the two discover the Shark living outside the water. It turns out to be a sorcerer (Tsurugi’s senior) in a shark costume, and the real threat is a tiger out there hunting down people. Fortunately, Tsurugi puts an end to the threat, and the two finally get the time to sit down and calmly talk about their goals.

Maru Reveals His Mission to Tsurugi in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo

All of a sudden, Maru spills out the truth about his mission, which is something he was prohibited from doing by his fellow Simurians. Maru reveals that he was tasked to obtain intel to evaluate whether his kind can coexist with humans on Earth. Then he explains why he couldn’t use his sorcery powers to save the kid during their first mission.

For those who aren’t aware, Maru has a younger twin brother named Cross. Maru mentions that his cursed technique is intertwined with that of his twin brother. He further explains that it can only be used in emergency cases, or else his brother will learn of it and ultimately taint his view of humans for depending on an alien’s power.

Thus, Maru avoided using his powers to prevent his brother from looking down on humans. Deep down, Maru wants to co-exist with the humans of Earth, unlike his twin brother, who seems the complete opposite.

Finally, as there is no saying how the Simurians will end up, Tsurugi and Maru get along as the latter wished to be friends. Now, we finally know the answer to why Maru joined Yuka and Tsurugi‘s journey. Maru seems to be good-hearted like his new friends, and we have no doubts that he will aid them significantly in their journey to become the strongest sorcerers.
