The Jujutsu Kaisen spin-off manga, Modulo, has introduced us to the next generation of sorcerers. Apart from the new characters, JJK Modulo also brings back several familiar faces from the predecessor Jujutsu Kaisen series. Yuta and Maki appeared at first, then Gojo and Yuji were referenced later on in the chapters. Now, the latest chapter 7 of Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo brings back Mahito, one of the most hated villains from JJK, who we thought had been dead for a long time.
Mahito Makes an Unexpected Comeback in Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo

It’s not just me; the entire Jujutsu Kaisen fandom unanimously holds a grudge against Mahito. This special-grade cursed spirit has been the epitome of a perfect JJK antagonist. Since his introduction, Mahito has been a menace to the sorcerers and the humans, as he played the sorcery game with no holds barred. The result? The path Mahito walked until the end was filled with the corpses of our favorites, such as Junpei, Nanami, and almost Nobara.
The amount of trauma he gave the JJK fans was incomparable to any other villain. Hence, fans carry a deep hatred for Mahito in their hearts even after the series ended. Now, the most despised villain, Mahito, has officially made his debut in the Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo series in its latest chapter.
As we saw last week, both Maru and Tsurugi became unconscious after their battle with the old curse user. Fortunately, Usami, the newly revealed Inumaki clan member, defeats Masaki with his cursed speech. In chapter 7, Tsurugi is admitted to the hospital to get treated for his injuries. Tsurugi, who is unconscious at this point, gets woken up by a familiar face (for us) in his dreams.
That sinister smile, staples across his body, and his patchwork face, there is no doubt, it’s the monster Mahito again. Mahito mockingly asks Tsurugi about his current injured state, as he thought he was “him.” We don’t know for sure who the special-grade refers to at the moment. Does he mean he expected to see Tsurugi up to the level of Yuta or Yuji? We will find out soon!
We Might Get to See Mahito vs Old Yuji in JJK: Modulo
In the meantime, the mystery of Mahito returning out of the blue, and that too within Tsurugi, makes us wonder the reason. What is the connection between Tsurugi and Mahito? As far as we know, Mahito was consumed by Kenjaku after he was ruthlessly defeated by Yuji during the Shibuya Incident.
But here he is getting reincarnated in the JJK spin-off series. We are assuming Mahito’s resurrection has something to do with Yuta’s ring, as Yuta let Rika devour Kenjaku’s corpse in the final war. We will have to wait to find out the answers to our puzzling question in the upcoming chapters.
On the other hand, remember Yuji’s cold speech moments before he smashed Mahito? “I’m gonna kill you. Even if you come back as another curse, I’ll kill you. Change your name. Change your form. I’ll kill you again. I don’t need to find meaning or a reason,” Yuji said. Since Mahito is back as a curse in JJK: Modulo, there is a high chance that an old Yuji will also come to hunt down the special grade curse.
For now, Mahito is back in action, and let’s hope he doesn’t kill any of our favorite characters in JJK Modulo. That said, what do you think about Gege’s decision to bring back Mahito in JJK: Modulo?
