So, here, let’s take a look at the three major rules that will be enforced in the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight.

Three major rules will be changed regarding boxing gloves, rounds and their time, and the boxing ring in the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul.

1. Use of 14-ounce Gloves

Usually, according to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combat Sports, the requirement for a match between male boxers who weigh 147 pounds or more is to use 10-ounce gloves. However, in this fight, 14-ounce gloves will be used. It is being speculated that heavier gloves with more padding can prove to be an advantage for Jake Paul since it will reduce the impact force of Tyson’s punches.

2. Two-minute rounds

On the demand made by Mike Tyson, instead of the traditional 3-minute round in men’s boxing, this particular match will feature 2-minute rounds. By reducing the total time of match rounds, Mike Tyson will have the advantage to save up his energy and recover faster to attack Jake, meanwhile, Jake Paul will have the advantage of avoiding fatigue. However, Jake Paul did request Mike to go for 10 rounds of 3 minutes but this request was denied by Tyson.

3. Size of the boxing ring

According to standards, a boxing ring can not be less than 16 by 16 feet and more than 24 by 24 feet. Anything that falls between that range is acceptable by the Texas Department of Regulation and Licensing (TDLR). Even though we do not have confirmed details regarding the size of the ring, Tyson has explicitly said that he expects that he’ll have to chase down Jake Paul. So, he would prefer to have a smaller ring. However, to make things unbiased, they might go with a neither too big nor too small of a ring.

Several experts have said that the changes made in the rules especially for the gloves will not have that much of an impact on the quality of the sport. What do you guys think? Do these rules of Jake paul vs Mike Tyson favor one contender over the other or are they good enough for a fair fight?
