Is Marathon Coming to Xbox?

Marathon is finally all set to release after the Bungie-developed extraction shooter went through a massive overhaul after its Alpha Test. With the team behind games like Destiny, players have been eagerly waiting for this title.

Since Sony acquired Bungie in 2022, players have had one lingering question in mind: Is Marathon coming to Xbox?

Will Marathon be on Xbox?

Yes, Marathon will release on Xbox Series X|S, alongside PlayStation 5 and PC, on March 5, 2026. Despite being the rival platform to Xbox, Bungie made the decision not to make Marathon a PlayStation exclusive. This means the title will be available on all three platforms on day one.

The move to keep their games multi-platform was actually a core tenet for the developers when Sony acquired Bungie in 2022. This not only allows players to enjoy Marathon on the platform of their choice but also provides Bungie with more opportunities to expand their player base.

Bungie has confirmed that Marathon will feature full cross-play and cross-save functionality. With cross-play, players can team up with friends who might be playing on PS5 or PC. Meanwhile, with cross-progression, you can carry your progress over from Xbox to PS5 or PC. As the release date of Marathon inches closer, players can rejoice in the fact that console differences won’t get in the way of scavenging Tau Ceti IV with their friends.
