HTC U12 Listed for Verizon; Could Feature QHD ‘Frame-less Display’, 3500 mAh Battery

HTC Launches U11+ in India as a Flipkart Exclusive

Amidst the release of flagship phones from major phone makers, HTC appears to be one of the few remaining to unveil a new device. However, Verizon has spilled the beans and just provided us with info on the upcoming HTC U12.

The US telecom company has listed the device on its Open Development website, which may seem off to you because of the HTC U11 placeholder image, but we also get an early look at some of the specs of the HTC U12.

The Verizon product listing suggests that HTC U12 might feature a “frame-less Super LCD 6-inch display” with a QuadHD resolution. This is the same modern 18:9 screen that we’ve already seen in the U11+, which launched back in November last year.

The device will have some form of Gorilla Glass protection, which is not surprising. But, it may come with IP68 water and dust resistance in tow, which is surely a plus.

Further, as you can see in the listing above, HTC U12 is expected to feature a decent 3,500mAh battery along with quick charging (which the listing says would be QC 1.0 but that seems to be a typo). It will be running Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, complete with HTC Sense Companion to help better use your device.

Inconsistencies

Now, the product listing is more than a little weird. We’ve already talked about the product image, which is surely the HTC U11 as proved by a reverse image search. We’re guessing it is just a placeholder image.

Secondly, the listing says that HTC U12 will feature Cat 12 LTE support, which is an older standard and wouldn’t allow you to surf the web at high speeds. Flagships now have Cat 18 LTE as standard with the Snapdragon 845, so this aspect also seems dodgy.

This product listing only suggests that HTC U12 could be launching very soon, possibly in May. The details seem a bit off so there are likely to be many changes in the final version. What are your expectations from the HTC U12? Tell us in the comments below.
