When it comes to anime movies from popular franchises such as One Piece, Bleach, etc, they are not canon and made for the pure entertainment of fans. However, Kohei Horikoshi (the creator of MHA) once confirmed that all the My Hero Academia movies are canon in the series. If you are beginning your superhero journey with Deku, it is essential to watch all the My Hero Academia movies. Therefore, discover how to watch all the My Hero Academia movies in the correct order in our guide here.
All My Hero Academia Movies in Order
All the MHA movies are considered canon, and only four My Hero Academia movies have been released so far. Find out how good each movie is, as well as the right order to watch them:
1. My Hero Academia: Two Heroes

- Release Year: 2018
- IMDB/MAL: 7.3/7.52
- Runtime: 1 hour 36 minutes
- To be Watched After Episode No. 58 (or Season 3 Episode 20)
Boku no Hero Academia the Movie: Futari no Hero, aka My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, is the first MHA movie to be released in the franchise. It’s Summer Break time, and Izuku Midoriya, along with All Might, visits the latter’s friends on an artificial flying island, I-Island. As there is a superhero festival on this island, all of Deku’s classmates came to this island.
Soon, the festivities transform into a state of frenzy when an adversary group secretly invades and takes control of the island. So, the budding heroes in festive mode now have to step up and save the people. Its typical plot may irk a few; nevertheless, it’s a solid MHA movie to enjoy if you love the MHA series.
2. My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
- Release Year: 2019
- IMDB/MAL: 7.7/7.93
- Runtime: 1 hour 44 minutes
- To be Watched After Episode No. 101 (or season 5 episode 13)
Following the tremendous success of the Two Heroes movie, the second installment, titled My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, was released on big screens a year later. Deku and his friends enroll in a safety program to help the citizens of Nabu Island. However, as one would expect, a new villain by the name of ‘Nine’, seeking a quirk, emerges as the biggest threat.
Nine is undoubtedly one of the most powerful villains the Class 1-A students have faced up to this point. This sets the stage for an incredible movie where Deku and his friends clash against a much stronger foe to protect the people of Nabu Island. Deku and Bakugo steal the show in the second MHA movie, and it is widely regarded as the best MHA movie to this day.
3. My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission
- Release Year: 2021
- IMDB/MAL: 7.00/7.58
- Runtime: 1 hour 41 minutes
- To be Watched After Episode No.104 (or season 5 episode 16)
It took more than two years to catch a new MHA movie after Heroes Rising in the theatres. My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission steps away from the regular savior plot as heroes with quirks need to save themselves first from the cult group Humarise, who plan to annihilate the quirk users with a bomb.
On the other hand, Deku gets falsely accused of a crime and has to solve two life-ending problems at once. The World Heroes’ Mission is well-known among the fans for its phenomenal fight sequences. Thus, you can still find this movie entertaining, albeit it comes with a decent plot.
4. My Hero Academia: You’re Next
- Release Year: 2024
- IMDB/MAL: 6.9/7.51
- To be Watched After Episode No. 142 (or season 7 episode 4)
My Hero Academia: You’re Next is the latest and possibly the final movie in the MHA franchise. What’s so special about this movie is that Valdo Gollini, aka Dark Knight, a doppelganger of All Might, is the main villain of this movie. So Deku and his friends go on a mission to take down the evil All-Might version.
As the most recent installment, people had big hopes for the You’re Next movie, but it turned out to be an average experience. Nevertheless, you should not skip this movie as it offers an interesting ride, and you can complete the MHA movie collection.
The MHA anime will conclude this year with the eighth season. There is no buzz around a new MHA movie, so the chances of a new movie are very slim at the moment. That said, which is your favorite MHA movie? Let us know in the comments below.
