The family of copper blocks is getting an upgrade with all-new armor and tools. While these are yet to arrive in the next update, you can test these features already. Copper tools and armor are perfect for an early-game crafter who is struggling to get iron ores with his stone pickaxe. The copper armor and tools are more efficient than leather and stone variants, respectively, but inferior to those made of iron. So, this guide will help you with the steps to craft copper tools and armor in Minecraft and make the progression easier.
Items You Need to Make Copper Tools in Minecraft
Crafting copper tools and armor is very similar to making the same using iron. All you require are some copper ingots and sticks.
Copper ingots don’t generate naturally in the Minecraft world. Instead, you must find copper ores first and then smelt them in furnaces using a fuel source to get the ingots. The next item, sticks can be easily made from two pieces of wooden planks or with two bamboos. The final item required is a crafting table in Minecraft, where you can place these items to craft the desired items.
Minecraft Copper Armor Pieces and How to Make Them
Armor | Armor Points | Durability | Crafting Recipe |
---|---|---|---|
Copper Helmet | 1 | 121 | ![]() |
Copper Chestplate | 2 | 176 | ![]() |
Copper Leggings | 1.5 | 165 | ![]() |
Copper Boots | 0.5 | 143 | ![]() |
1. Copper Helmet
The helmet requires 5 copper ingots. Once you have them, open up the crafting table and fill the top row with three ingots. Place one ingot in the left cell and one in the right cell on the middle row, and your copper helmet will be ready. It increases the armor point by 1.
2. Copper Chestplate
To make the copper chestplate, you require 8 copper ingots. On the crafting table, you need to fill up every cell except for the middle cell on the first row to get the chestplate. Wearing this increases the armor points by 2.
3. Copper Leggings
For the leggings, 7 copper ingots are required. So, you need to fill up all the cells on the crafting table with ingots except for the middle ones on the second and third row. It will give you a copper legging, which increases your armor points by 1.5.
4. Copper Boots
Finally, the copper boots require only 4 copper ingots. On the crafting table, you’ll need to place two boots in the left and right cells of both the second and third rows. This gives you a pair of copper boots, which gives 0.5 armor points.
All Copper Tools in Minecraft and How to Make Them
Tools | Damage (in Hearts) | Durability | Crafting Recipe |
---|---|---|---|
Copper Hoe | 2/0.5 | 191 | ![]() |
Copper Shovel | 1.5/1 | 191 | ![]() |
Copper Pickaxe | 2/1.5 | 191 | ![]() |
Copper Axe | 2.5/4.5 | 191 | ![]() |
Copper Sword | 3/2.5 | 191 | ![]() |
1. Copper Hoe
A copper hoe can be made using two pieces of copper ingots and two sticks. Place the two sticks in the middle cells of the second and third row on a crafting table. Now place one copper ingot on the middle cell of the first row and the other to the right of it. This will give you a copper hoe, which is useful in farming.
2. Copper Shovel
The copper shovel is the cheapest of all, as you only require one copper ingot and two sticks. Placing the two sticks in the center cell of the second row and the third row, and the ingot in the center cell of the top row, will give a copper shovel. This one can be used to dig dirt or sand layers efficiently or make paths on the ground.
3. Copper Pickaxe
The copper pickaxe can be useful for mining blocks faster than using a stone pickaxe. So, to craft it, you are required to place three copper ingots on each cell of the first row. Next, you need to fill up the center cells of the second and third row with sticks to get the pickaxe.
4. Copper Axe
The copper axe can be made using three copper ingots and two sticks, but the formation is different from a pickaxe. Place two sticks on the central cells of the second and third rows on a crafting table. Now, place two ingots on the first two cells on the first row, and on the first cell of the second row.
5. Copper Sword
Lastly comes the copper sword that requires two copper ingots and a single stick. You need to place two ingots on the central cell of the first and second row on a crafting table. Then, place the stick in the center of the third row to get the copper sword. You can now use it to kill mobs, where each hit can deal 3 hearts (on Bedrock) and 2.5 hearts (on Java) of damage to them.
